Overview

AI-generated overview

Gives an AI agent its own real email inbox so it can send, receive, reply, and pull verification codes and magic links.

What you can do
Create, list and delete inboxes for the agent, and check usage limits on the account and inboxes it manages, including threads and messages it reads, replies to or forwards, and send new email from an inbox, and wait for inbound mail and extract the OTP or magic link from the newest message
When to use it
Useful when an agent needs a real deliverable address to sign itself up for services, clear email verification or 2FA prompts, or handle simple inbound and outbound correspondence without SMTP or DNS setup.
Requirements
A Dead Simple Email API key starting with dse_, passed as the DSE_API_KEY environment variable for the local Python package or as a Bearer token in the Authorization header for the remote endpoint. The remote server needs network access; the local option needs Python.
Before you install
The API key is a secret and grants access to the account's inboxes. The server can send email to third parties and delete inboxes, so writes are real. It is designed to let agents sign up for third-party services and read verification codes, which may conflict with those services' terms. Trial accounts are limited to 1 inbox and 10 sends per hour, 25 per day.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Dead Simple Email in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/email.deadsimple%2Fdead-simple-email/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Dead Simple Email

Email infrastructure for AI agents. One call gives an agent a real, deliverable inbox — no SMTP credentials, no DNS, no dashboard.

deadsimple.email · Docs · API reference

Sign up with no human in the loop

An agent can provision its own account, API key and live inbox in a single unauthenticated call:

bash
curl -X POST https://api.deadsimple.email/v1/auth/agent-signup

That returns a trial account (1 inbox, 10 sends/hour, 25/day). Claim it later with a verified email to move to the Free plan, keeping the same key and inboxes.

MCP server

Listed in the official MCP Registry as email.deadsimple/dead-simple-email, and on Smithery and Glama.

Remote (recommended) — nothing to install:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "dead-simple-email": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://api.deadsimple.email/mcp",      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer dse_your_api_key" }    }  }}

Local (stdio):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "deadsimple": {      "command": "python",      "args": ["-m", "deadsimple.mcp"],      "env": { "DSE_API_KEY": "dse_your_api_key" }    }  }}

14 tools: create_inbox, list_inboxes, delete_inbox, send_email, read_messages, read_message, reply_to_message, forward_message, wait_for_email, get_verification_code, get_verification_link, list_threads, read_thread, get_usage.

The one agents reach for most is get_verification_code — it pulls the OTP or magic link out of the newest inbound message, so an agent can sign itself up for a third-party service or clear a 2FA prompt without ever parsing an email body.
