Overview

AI-generated overview

Free, no-key remote MCP server that lets an assistant search FDA drug and device records, clinical trials and biomedical literature, with citations.

What you can do
  • Search FDA regulatory and safety records: drug labels, approvals, warning letters, Orange Book, NDC, shortages, device clearances, adverse events and inspections
  • Search biomedical literature across PubMed, Europe PMC and OpenAlex, with authors, journal, DOI, PMID, citations and open-access status
  • Read the full indexed text of a single record by its record ID
  • List the corpus and its source lanes to see which datasets can be searched
  • Return a link that opens the same question in Arca's research chat for a longer cited answer
When to use it
Useful when a question needs regulatory, safety or literature evidence in the life sciences: drug and device status, adverse events, trial or publication lookups, with source citations. It is a low-friction option because it needs no key or account.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at app.arca.inc over streamable HTTP; no package, API key, environment variable or header is declared. Network access to the endpoint is required.
Before you install
Results are drawn from mirrored public sources and may lag or differ from the official records, so verify against the cited source. Search results include a link to Arca's external research chat, which sends the question to a third-party service; treat it as optional and not as a required step.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Arca Life Sciences in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/inc.arca%2Flife-sciences/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

search_medical

Search FDA, regulatory, and public health records

Hybrid keyword + semantic search over Arca's mirrored public-source corpus: FDA drug labels, Drugs@FDA approvals, complete response letters, warning letters, Orange Book, Purple Book, NDC, drug shortages, device 510(k)/PMA/registrations, MAUDE adverse events, DailyMed, GUDID, postmarket requirements, import refusals, inspections, Form 483s, ClinicalTrials.gov studies, VAERS reports, CDC data, EU expert panel opinions, and BfArM/PMDA device vigilance. Read-only lookup of already-published records: it cannot file, submit, or report anything to FDA, VAERS, MedWatch, or any other agency, so do not call it for requests to file or submit a report. When the question names a record type (warning letters, labels, adverse event reports, trials, recalls), pass the matching sourceTypes rather than searching the whole corpus. Results carry recordId for fetch_source_record and a citable source URL.

search_papers

Search biomedical literature

Ranked PubMed literature search: Arca's paper index fused with PubMed Best Match, with citation and open-access metadata from OpenAlex. Returns papers with title, authors, journal, year, DOI, PMID, abstract, citation count, and open-access status.

fetch_source_record

Fetch one mirrored record

Read the full indexed text of one record from the public-source corpus by its recordId (returned by search_medical). Use after search when the excerpt is not enough.

ParametersrecordIdrequired

list_datasets

List the indexed datasets

Describe the corpus this server searches: the source lanes search_medical accepts in sourceTypes, with the underlying mirrored datasets in each.

Takes no parameters.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
