Overview

AI-generated overview

Band Atlas answers which cellular IoT modules and devices work on which mobile networks, country by country, with band-level verdicts.

What you can do
  • List covered countries, networks and devices, and look up a country's mobile networks with their 4G/5G bands and 2G/3G/5G SA/LTE-M/NB-IoT status
  • Rate a listed module or device against every network of a country, or check pasted LTE/NR bands against one or more countries
  • Rank devices by how many networks rate them good, to pick the fewest SKUs for a multi-country deployment
  • Produce a multi-country project report for one device, with a link to the full report on the website
  • Return the IoT connectivity readiness index for chosen countries or the global top 20
When to use it
Useful when planning cellular IoT hardware rollouts across countries: choosing modules, checking whether a device will attach on a given operator, or comparing markets by connectivity readiness.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint at the provider's site over streamable HTTP; no package, account, key or header is declared. Network access to the provider is needed.
Before you install
Verdicts and readiness scores are third-party data with graded sources, so confirm critical deployment decisions against operator or maker documentation; project reports link out to the provider's website and may offer engineer confirmation.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Band Atlas (Hyper Nexus) in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.365724-ctrl%2Fband-atlas/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

How verdicts work

A device is rated good on a network when it supports the bands that carry the network's service, limited when it lacks some of them (typically a coverage band), and no when it cannot attach. missing_bands lists what is lacking. Receive-only bands (for example LTE B29 and B32) are not counted as bands that can carry a connection alone. Third-party bands come from each maker's datasheets, wiki or product pages; listing a product is not an endorsement.

Use it from an AI assistant

The same data answers through an MCP server (7 tools: band check, country, operator, project report, IoT readiness and more) and a public JSON API with an OpenAPI description. See https://www.aiotrf.com/en/ai/band-atlas/developers/.

list_coverage

List countries and devices

List every country (ISO code, name, number of networks) and every module or device (id, name, kind) Band Atlas covers. Call this first if you are unsure of a country code or a device id.

Takes no parameters.

get_country_networks

A country's networks

Mobile networks of one country: their 4G/LTE and 5G/NR bands (each marked cross-checked by two independent sources or single-source), core bands, and the state of 2G, 3G, 5G SA, RedCap, LTE-M and NB-IoT, with switch-off dates.

Parameterscountryrequired

check_device

Will this device work in this country

Verdict (good, limited or no) for a known module or device on every network of a country, with the LTE and NR bands it lacks. Use list_coverage for device ids, or check_bands for a device that is not listed.

Parametersdevicerequiredcountryrequired

check_bands

Check any band list

Paste the LTE (and optionally 5G NR) bands of any cellular module or device and get a verdict on every network of one or more countries, with the bands it lacks, using the same rules as Band Atlas: bands cross-checked by two sources are scored, coverage bands under 1 GHz weigh double, good needs at least 60 percent and a coverage band.

Parametersnr_bandscountriesrequiredlte_bandsrequired

find_devices

Devices that work in these countries

Rank the modules and devices in Band Atlas by how many networks of the given countries rate them good, and say which device works well on every network of each country. Useful to pick the fewest SKUs for a multi-country deployment.

Parameterscountriesrequired

project_report

Project report for several countries

One report for a device across several target countries: where it works as is, where it needs attention (with the indoor-coverage risk when a network's own coverage band is missing) and where it does not work, plus a link to the full report on the website (PDF, share link, ask an engineer to confirm).

Parametersdevicerequiredcountriesrequired

iot_readiness

IoT connectivity readiness by country

The Band Atlas IoT connectivity readiness index (beta, 0-100) for the given countries, or the top 20 when none are given: coverage (share of networks with a sub-1 GHz 4G band, 30%), LTE-M and NB-IoT confirmed on at least one network (30%), 5G and RedCap (20%), device fit (20%), with rank and data confidence. Only confirmed data counts; "not listed" is never taken as "not available", so thinly documented countries may be under-scored.
