DataOps ClickHouse MCP server with query optimization and pipeline monitoring
Overview
A local MCP server for ClickHouse DataOps: run read-only SELECTs, explain and optimize queries, and inspect pipeline latency, data quality and disk usage.
- What you can do
- Run read-only SELECT queries with partition pruning warnings and row limits, and list tables with descriptions or inspect table schemas, keys and partitions. Analyze queries with EXPLAIN-based optimization suggestions and diagnose slow queries. Monitor CDC pipeline latency per segment (p50/p95/p99) and check data quality for nulls, duplicates, gaps and market coverage. Review disk usage with TTL and optimization recommendations.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs to investigate a ClickHouse data warehouse for DataOps work: tuning slow queries, checking pipeline latency, validating data quality, or reviewing storage and TTL settings without write access.
- Requirements
- Runs locally as a Python package installed with pip, launched over stdio. Needs a reachable ClickHouse HTTP endpoint and the environment variables CLICKHOUSE_HOST, CLICKHOUSE_PORT, CLICKHOUSE_USER, CLICKHOUSE_PASSWORD and CLICKHOUSE_DATABASE; query timeout is configurable via CLICKHOUSE_QUERY_TIMEOUT.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Clickhouse Dataops Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
clickhouse-dataops-mcp
mcp-name: io.github.Aguantar/clickhouse-dataops-mcp
A DataOps-focused MCP server for ClickHouse with query optimization, pipeline latency analysis, and data quality monitoring.
Features
Unlike generic ClickHouse MCP servers that only run queries, this server acts as a query optimization advisor:
ch_query— Execute SELECT with automatic partition pruning warningsch_explain_query— EXPLAIN-based analysis with optimization suggestionsch_table_schema— Comprehensive table metadata (columns, keys, partitions, samples)ch_pipeline_latency— CDC pipeline per-segment latency (p50/p95/p99)ch_data_quality— Null/duplicate/gap detection with market coverage checksch_slow_queries— Slow query detection with root cause diagnosisch_disk_usage— Disk analysis with TTL and optimization recommendationsch_list_tables— Table catalog with built-in descriptions
Safety
All queries are read-only. DDL/DML operations are blocked at the SQL validation layer:
- Blocked:
DROP,TRUNCATE,DELETE,ALTER,INSERT,UPDATE,CREATE, etc. - Multi-statement queries blocked (
;separator) - Comment-based bypass prevented (comments stripped before validation)
- System tables restricted to allowlist
- Query timeout: 30 seconds
- Row limit enforcement

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
