Overview

AI-generated overview

Apify-hosted document and media tools: convert files to Markdown or PDF, OCR, transcribe audio, text-to-speech, screenshots, domain checks and video frames.

What you can do
  • Convert documents, images and office files to Markdown, JSON tables or RAG chunks, and office files to PDF or PDF/A
  • Convert PDF pages to images and images to PDF, including HEIC to JPG and resizing
  • Transcribe audio and video to text, timestamped segments and SRT/VTT subtitles
  • Run OCR on images and scanned PDFs, returning text with confidence and boxes
  • Generate speech from text or documents as MP3/WAV/OGG with subtitles
  • Capture full-page website screenshots or PDFs, check WHOIS/DNS/SSL for domains, and extract video frames with timecodes
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to read scanned or office documents, produce PDFs or images, transcribe recordings, generate audio, screenshot pages, or bulk-check domain and certificate data without running local conversion tooling.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at mcp.apify.com with OAuth sign-in to Apify, or a local Python install with an APIFY_TOKEN environment variable. An Apify account is required; usage is billed by Apify, and new accounts include free monthly credit.
Before you install
Every tool is billed per unit of work (pages, images, minutes, frames, domains) and takes a max_charge_usd limit per call, defaulting to $1. Files must be supplied as public URLs, so the content is fetched by Apify's servers. The local option requires an Apify API token in the environment.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Document & media tools (Apify) in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.AndriyVK%2Fapify-document-tools/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Option 1 — hosted (no install)

Use Apify's hosted MCP server with exactly these tools:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "document-tools": {      "url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=ai_admin/document-to-markdown,ai_admin/office-to-pdf,ai_admin/pdf-image-converter,ai_admin/audio-transcriber,ai_admin/image-to-text-ocr,ai_admin/text-to-speech,ai_admin/website-screenshot,ai_admin/domain-whois-dns-ssl,ai_admin/video-frame-extractor"    }  }}

On first connection your browser opens to sign in to Apify (or pass Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_TOKEN>).

Option 2 — local (stdio)

bash
git clone https://github.com/AndriyVK/-apify-document-toolscd -- -apify-document-tools/mcp-serverpip install -r requirements.txt
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "document-tools": {      "command": "python",      "args": ["/path/to/-apify-document-tools/mcp-server/server.py"],      "env": { "APIFY_TOKEN": "your Apify API token" }    }  }}

Get the token in Apify Console → Settings → API & Integrations. New Apify accounts include free monthly usage credit.
