When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to produce or edit media (images, video, audio) without wiring up individual model providers, and you are comfortable routing generation through a paid third-party API.
Requirements
Runs as a local Node.js process (npm package muapi-mcp-server, or the Claude Code plugin). Requires a MuAPI account and an API key supplied in the MUAPI_API_KEY environment variable. Network access to MuAPI is needed.
Before you install
The API key is a secret passed via MUAPI_API_KEY; keep it out of committed files such as .env. Generation runs on MuAPI's servers, so prompts and any uploaded files are sent to that third party. Usage is tied to a paid account balance, so generation calls may consume credits.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Muapi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Configure Your API Key

Set your MuAPI API key:
