Overview

AI-generated overview

Lorem lets an assistant read and write slide decks as code, run an AI deck pipeline, and export decks to PPTX or PDF.

What you can do
Read and write slide decks as code through the MCP connection, so an assistant can inspect and edit deck content programmatically. Run Lorem's full AI pipeline on decks. Export finished decks to PPTX or PDF. Point the connection at the hosted service or a self-hosted Lorem server.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to work on presentation decks directly — generating, editing or exporting slides — rather than only discussing them. It fits workflows where decks are treated as code and need PPTX or PDF output.
Requirements
Runs as a local process installed from the npm package lorem-mcp (Node.js needed). Talks to a Lorem server: the hosted service by default, or a self-hosted one via LOREM_URL. An API key in LOREM_API_KEY is optional; without it the hosted server gives the same free guest trial as the website, then asks you to sign up.
Before you install
The API key in LOREM_API_KEY is a secret minted in the Lorem account settings; keep it out of shared configs. Without a key you fall into a guest trial that later requires signing up. The server writes and exports deck content, so changes to existing decks should be reviewed. Deck content is sent to the configured Lorem server, which may be a third party.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Lorem in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
