Plan, check and write Power BI reports on your PC after you approve. Arabic RTL and Gulf calendar.
Overview
Local MCP server that plans, validates and writes Power BI report files on your PC after you approve, with Arabic RTL and Gulf calendar support.
- What you can do
- Plan report layouts in English, Arabic or both, with Microsoft's report validator run on each new plan
- Write new Power BI report files only after you approve the write
- Check existing reports with the validator, including redesigns, Arabic twins and sample projects
- Generate Arabic right-to-left layouts and Gulf calendar content such as Hijri dates, Ramadan and Eid windows and GCC weekends
- Replace only its own answers file, and only after approval
- When to use it
- Useful when you build Power BI reports on a Windows PC and want an assistant to draft layouts, generate Arabic or Gulf-calendar-aware reports, or validate report files before and after writing them.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process on the user's machine (desktop only, stdio transport), distributed as an mcpb package; install steps are in the project's mcp README. No environment variables, headers or authentication are declared. Power BI Desktop is implied for the measured layouts and validation workflow.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open DataArcus for Power BI in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

DataArcus
Power BI reports designed right, and checked in Power BI, not just generated. Arabic, right to left and the Gulf calendar, next to Microsoft's tools.

How we check our work
- Automated tests on every change: every website test suite (the list is
ALLinscripts/tests/run-all.mjs) and the MCP's tests run on each pull request and push to main. - Microsoft's own validator: our test runs check the reports the tools write, on our sample models, with
Microsoft's report validator. The website's tools don't run it on the reports you make in your browser. The
DataArcus MCP runs it on your machine on each new report it plans with
plan_layout(in English, Arabic or both) beforecreate_reportwrites it, and incheck_report. A redesign, the Arabic twin, the English-Arabic copy and the sample project are copies or fixed files and are not run through it before they are written:check_reportruns it on them afterwards. - Measured in Power BI Desktop: sizes, layouts and numbers are measured in Power BI Desktop, never estimated, and recorded with the version used.
- Sourced facts: prices, dates and Microsoft claims are linked to their source and re-checked. The Gulf calendar's
announced Ramadan and Eid dates for the UAE and Saudi Arabia, each with its source, are in
scripts/gulf-calendar/DATES-SOURCES.md.
Measurements
What was measured in Power BI Desktop, on which version, how, and the quirks found, is in
scripts/tests/DESKTOP-TESTS.md.
The AI report designer
An AI report designer for Power BI (it works with Claude on your own machine and writes new files only: the one file it ever replaces is its own answers file, after you approve) is in public beta: download 0.3.0 from the release page (check its SHA-256 there), install steps in mcp/README.md. Questions: [email protected].
How it is built

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
