Picright

Picright is a local MCP server that finds license-aware images for markdown, with CC and stock search, screenshots, Mermaid diagrams and provenance tracking.

What you can do

Search license-aware image sources, including Creative Commons and stock providers, for use in markdown documents. Capture screenshots and generate Mermaid diagrams as visual assets. Record provenance so image sources and licenses can be traced. Optional Pexels and Pixabay keys extend search beyond the keyless Openverse source.

When to use it

Useful when writing markdown documents, READMEs or notes that need images with clear licensing, or when you want an assistant to gather screenshots and diagrams and keep track of where each image came from.

Requirements

Runs as a local process installed from the npm package picright-mcp (Node.js required) and is desktop-only. Openverse works without any key; PEXELS_API_KEY and PIXABAY_API_KEY are optional environment variables that add stock image sources.
