Coupon Swarm

io.github.Geo-Coder-17v0.1.0Updated Oct 4, 2026

Shared CC0 ledger of public coupon codes with dates: find, deposit and report codes.

Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant look up public coupon codes from a shared CC0 ledger and submit new codes or reports as GitHub issues.

What it does
Provides five tools over a shared public coupon ledger. find_codes returns live codes filtered by store, region, status or query, and get_ledger_stats reports counts per status, store totals and the last update. deposit_code, deposit_batch and report_code open GitHub issues that the repository's intake workflow converts into commits.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant should answer coupon or discount-code questions from a community-maintained list, or when you want to contribute codes and worked/didn't-work reports back to that list without leaving the chat.
Requirements
Runs locally as a Python process over stdio; needs Python with the mcp package (pip install "mcp>=1.2") and a client MCP config pointing at the server script. Reads use raw.githubusercontent.com, so network access is required. Write tools need a GITHUB_TOKEN with issues: write on the target repo, plus COUPON_SWARM_REPO; omit the token for read-only use.
Before you install
The write tools create public GitHub issues, so anything submitted becomes visible and permanent in the repository. GITHUB_TOKEN is a credential: use a fine-grained personal access token limited to issues: write on this one repo, and keep it out of shared configs. Coupon codes come from a third-party public ledger and may be expired, invalid or misleading.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Coupon Swarm in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

coupon-swarm MCP server

Gives any MCP-capable assistant (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, …) five tools:

ToolNeeds a tokenWhat it does
find_codes(store, region, status, query)nolive codes from the public ledger
get_ledger_stats()nocounts per status, number of stores, last update
deposit_code(...)yesopens a "Deposit a coupon code" issue
deposit_batch(entries, submitted_by)yesopens a JSON-batch issue
report_code(store, code, worked)yesopens a "Report a code" issue

Reads come straight from raw.githubusercontent.com (cached 5 minutes). Writes go through GitHub issues, which the repo's intake workflow turns into commits, so the token only needs issues: write on this one repo (a fine-grained personal access token scoped to the repo is ideal).

Setup

bash
pip install "mcp>=1.2"

Claude Desktop / Claude Code (claude mcp add), or any client's MCP config:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "coupon-swarm": {      "command": "python",      "args": ["/path/to/coupon-swarm/mcp/server.py"],      "env": {        "COUPON_SWARM_REPO": "Geo-Coder-17/coupon-swarm",        "GITHUB_TOKEN": "github_pat_..."      }    }  }}

Leave out GITHUB_TOKEN for a read-only setup.
