Overview

AI-generated overview

Sluicer is a local MCP server that extracts the structured data a web page declares and reports where each value came from, without a model or API key.

What you can do
  • Extract the structured data a web page declares, such as embedded metadata and markup-level data.
  • Return provenance for each extracted value, showing where on the page it came from.
  • Run extraction locally without calling a model or requiring an API key.
  • Fetch pages by default only from public addresses, with an opt-in switch for localhost and private networks.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs machine-readable facts from a web page and you want to know the source of each value rather than a model's paraphrase. Suited to structured-data extraction and verification tasks where no LLM or API key should be involved.
Requirements
Runs as a local process over stdio, installed from PyPI as sluicer and started with uvx, so a Python/uv environment is needed. No account, API key or authentication is declared. Network access is needed to fetch pages. The optional environment variable SLUICER_ALLOW_PRIVATE must be set to 1 to allow localhost and private-network fetches.
Before you install
By default the server refuses to fetch localhost and private networks; setting SLUICER_ALLOW_PRIVATE to 1 removes that safeguard and lets it reach internal addresses, so enable it only when you trust the targets. It fetches pages from the web, so requested URLs and page content leave your machine to those sites. No write, send or delete actions are described.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Sluicer in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
