Convert, compress & merge PDFs and 100+ file formats from any AI agent. By GuruPDF.

Overview

AI-generated overview

GuruPDF lets an assistant convert, compress, merge, split and edit PDFs and convert between 100+ file formats, reading and writing files on your machine.

What you can do
  • Convert and process local files or URLs to a target format such as PDF, PNG or DOCX, or via a tool slug like compress-pdf or merge-pdf, saving results to disk
  • Merge, split, rotate, protect and watermark PDFs, plus OCR and ebook and image conversions
  • Check a conversion job by id and download the result when ready, for long jobs such as video
  • List supported conversions and tools, optionally filtered by input format
  • Show remaining credits and how to get more
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to handle everyday document chores on local files — turning a Word invoice into a PDF, compressing a report, merging several PDFs, or saving a web page as a PDF — without manual uploads and downloads.
Requirements
Node.js 18+ and a free GuruPDF API key set in GURUPDF_API_KEY, obtained from the GuruPDF profile page. Runs locally via npx; GURUPDF_API_URL can override the API base URL for self-hosting. Network access to GuruPDF's servers is required.
Before you install
Conversions run on GuruPDF's servers, so the files you convert are uploaded to a third party, though the README says they are deleted within an hour. Each tool costs credits; free accounts get daily credits with rate limits, and topping up or upgrading involves payment. The API key is a secret to keep out of shared configs. The server reads and writes files on disk, and protect-pdf takes a password as an option.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open GuruPDF in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
