Overview

AI-generated overview

Shade MCP connects an AI assistant to a Shade workspace so it can search, inspect, organize and share creative assets.

What you can do
Search and browse drives and folders for creative assets, and inspect assets and their transcripts, including video summaries and preview frames. Manage files and metadata, including custom objects and configured approval metadata. Curate collections and views, and add comments to assets. Create share links and manage automations.
When to use it
Useful when your team keeps video, image or other creative assets in Shade and you want an assistant to find clips, summarize footage, check metadata, assemble review collections or produce share links without leaving the chat.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at mcp.shade.inc, added to an MCP client such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, GitHub Copilot CLI or ChatGPT. Authentication is OAuth: the client opens Shade sign-in when you connect, so you need a Shade account with access to the relevant workspaces and drives.
Before you install
The assistant acts with the permissions of the signed-in Shade user and can only reach workspaces and drives that user can access. Mutating tools create collections, change files and metadata, add comments, create share links and manage automations; the README says these rely on the host's normal approval flow, so check that your client prompts before writes. Share links may expose assets beyond your workspace.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Shade in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.Just-Moh-it%2Fshade/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

    "shade": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp"

README

Shade MCP

Shade MCP connects AI assistants to the creative assets in your Shade workspace. It can search and browse drives, inspect assets and transcripts, manage files and metadata, curate collections and views, add comments, create share links, work with custom objects, and manage automations.

Connect

The production Streamable HTTP endpoint is:

text
https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp

Shade uses OAuth. Your MCP client opens Shade sign-in when you connect.

Watch the production MCP reviewer walkthrough for a concise connection, search, asset-inspection, preview, and safety demo.

Cursor

Install the Shade plugin from the Cursor Marketplace, or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "shade": {      "url": "https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp"    }  }}

Codex

The marketplace-ready Codex package is in plugins/shade and depends on the reviewed Shade app. For a direct custom connection, add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:

toml
[mcp_servers.shade]url = "https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp"

Then run:

sh
codex mcp login shade

Claude

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it Shade, and enter https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp.

GitHub Copilot CLI

sh
copilot mcp add --transport http shade https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT settings, enable Developer mode under Connectors, create a connector named Shade, and use https://mcp.shade.inc/mcp.

Example prompts

  • “Find five clips showing a person eating pizza.”
  • “Summarize this video and show representative preview frames.”
  • “Browse the project folder and identify the latest graded exports.”
  • “Show the configured approval metadata and the value on this asset.”
  • “Create a review collection and add these selected assets.”

Security and privacy

Shade MCP only accesses workspaces and drives available to the authenticated Shade user. Mutating tools require the host's normal approval flow. See the Shade Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and security and legal overview.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
