Overview

AI-generated overview

Marlo MCP lets an AI assistant run a read-only SEO and technical audit of a single web page and get prioritized fixes.

What you can do
  • Audit one web page for SEO and technical issues
  • Return the top findings with evidence, why each matters, and a concrete fix
  • Report rate-limit status and when to retry
When to use it
Useful when you want a quick pre-publish check of a page or a first-pass list of SEO fixes without leaving the assistant. It covers one page per call and only the top three findings, so it is not a full site crawler.
Requirements
Node.js 20 or newer, run locally via npx. By default it calls the hosted Marlo audit endpoint; to use your own self-hosted Marlo, set MARLO_BASE_URL and, if configured, MARLO_ACCESS_PASSWORD. Network access to the audit endpoint is required.
Before you install
Only the page address you ask about is sent to Marlo's audit endpoint; private and local addresses are refused. The hosted endpoint is rate limited. If you set MARLO_ACCESS_PASSWORD, it is sent only to MARLO_BASE_URL. The tool is read-only and changes nothing.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Marlo Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

marlo-mcp

An MCP server that lets Claude, Cursor and other AI assistants audit a web page for SEO and technical issues with Marlo, the open-source AI CMO.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Audit https://mysite.com and tell me what to fix first."
  • "Check this page before I ship it."

It has one tool, audit_site. It is read-only: it fetches the page and changes nothing. It checks one page, and returns the top findings, each with evidence, why it matters and a concrete fix.

Install

Add it to your MCP client. For Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and similar clients:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "marlo": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "marlo-mcp"]    }  }}

For Claude Code: claude mcp add marlo -- npx -y marlo-mcp

Requires Node.js 20 or newer.

Use your own Marlo server

By default the tool calls the hosted Marlo at https://app.marlo.mlforge.in, which rate limits public audits. To use your own self-hosted Marlo instead:

VariablePurpose
MARLO_BASE_URLYour server, for example http://localhost:3000
MARLO_ACCESS_PASSWORDYour server's MARLO_ACCESS_PASSWORD, if you set one. It is only ever sent to MARLO_BASE_URL, never to the hosted app.
json
{  "mcpServers": {    "marlo": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "marlo-mcp"],      "env": { "MARLO_BASE_URL": "http://localhost:3000" }    }  }}

What it sends

Only the page address you ask about, to Marlo's public audit endpoint. No API keys, files or conversation text leave your machine. Private and local addresses are refused by the server.

Limits

  • One page per call, and the top three findings. The full product tracks findings over time, checks AI readiness (GEO), reads Search Console and opens draft fix PRs on GitHub.
  • The hosted endpoint is rate limited. If you hit the limit, the tool says so and when to retry.

Development

bash
npm installnpm testnode bin/marlo-mcp.mjs # speaks MCP over stdio

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
