Overview

AI-generated overview

Serves the Kinetik UI registry of animated React Native and Expo components to an assistant so it can search, inspect and plan installs.

What you can do
  • List every Kinetik UI component and screen template, marking which ones are already installed
  • Search components by name, category or description
  • Fetch details for a single component and its shared code
  • Produce an install plan for chosen components, including dependencies
  • Read the design tokens and motion presets used by the components
When to use it
Useful when building an Expo or React Native app with Reanimated, Gesture Handler and Skia and you want an assistant to find suitable motion components and work out what to add to the project.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio via npx with the kinetik-ui npm package, so Node.js and network access are needed. The target project must use the React Native New Architecture and Expo SDK 54 or newer. No accounts, API keys or environment variables are declared.
Before you install
The server exposes the registry for reading and planning; the actual copying of component source and dependency installation happens through the CLI commands, which write files into your project and run expo install. Review changes and use the dry-run and diff options before overwriting existing copies.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Kinetik UI in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

kinetik-ui

The CLI for Kinetik UI: motion and effect components for Expo, built on Reanimated 4, Gesture Handler and Skia.

Requires the React Native New Architecture. Expo SDK 54 or newer.

bash
npx kinetik-ui initnpx kinetik-ui add glint-card deckfall

Components are copied into your project as TypeScript source, so you own them. Dependencies are installed with npx expo install, so native versions match your Expo SDK.

Commands

CommandWhat it does
initWrites kinetik.json, copies tokens and motion presets, installs Reanimated
add <name...>Copies components and the shared code they need, then runs expo install
listEvery component and screen template (● marks installed ones)
search <query>Find components by name, category or description
diff [name...]How your copies differ from the registry
doctorChecks the Expo SDK, New Architecture, Babel config, dependencies and files
agents [--skill]Adds Kinetik guidance for AI coding agents to AGENTS.md (and an Agent Skill)
mcpServes the registry to AI agents over the Model Context Protocol (stdio)

Options: --registry <url|dir>, --overwrite, --dry-run, --skip-install, --components-dir, --lib-dir, --json, --cwd. Run npx kinetik-ui --help for details.

Use with AI agents

Add the MCP server to your agent's configuration:

json
{ "mcpServers": { "kinetik-ui": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "kinetik-ui", "mcp"] } } }

Tools: list_components, search_components, get_component, get_install_plan, get_tokens.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
