Overview

AI-generated overview

Official hosted POEditor MCP server that lets an assistant manage translation projects, terms, translations, glossaries and contributors.

What you can do
  • List, create, update, delete, sync, upload and export POEditor projects
  • Manage project languages and terms, including comments and details
  • Commit, propose, update and delete translations, fill from translation memory, list fuzzy, pending-proofread and untranslated items, mark proofread
  • Check translation and proofread progress, activity stats and QA or AI quality evaluations
  • Manage contributors and shared glossaries, including glossary terms, translations and CSV import/export
  • Run automatic translation via Google, Microsoft or DeepL, and round-trip text with Figma
When to use it
Useful when you keep UI strings or documentation in POEditor and want an assistant to inspect, edit, export or auto-translate them, check progress and quality, or move content between Figma and POEditor without leaving the chat.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at mcp.poeditor.com over streamable HTTP; no installation. A POEditor account, authenticated either through OAuth 2.1 with PKCE or a POEditor API token sent as an Authorization Bearer header. Network access to the endpoint.
Before you install
The API token in the Authorization header grants access to your own POEditor projects, so treat it as a secret. Many tools write or delete data (projects, terms, translations, contributors, glossaries, Figma collections), and automatic translation sends content to Google, Microsoft or DeepL. Exports return download URLs.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open POEditor in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.POEditor%2Fmcp.poeditor.com/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Endpoint

text
https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp

Official remote MCP server, hosted by POEditor. No installation required. Streamable HTTP transport, MCP spec compliant.

Quick start

1. Get your API token

Generate a token at poeditor.com/account/api.

2. Add to your client

Claude Code — OAuth or API token:

bash
claude mcp add poeditor --transport http https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp

On first use Claude Code opens a browser for POEditor login and stores the token automatically. To use an API token instead:

bash
claude mcp add poeditor --transport http https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"

Claude Desktop — edit claude_desktop_config.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "poeditor": {      "url": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

Cursor — edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "poeditor": {      "url": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

Windsurf — edit ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "poeditor": {      "serverUrl": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot) — add to .vscode/mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "poeditor": {      "url": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

Zed — add to ~/.config/zed/settings.json:

json
{  "context_servers": {    "poeditor": {      "command": {        "path": "npx",        "args": [          "-y", "mcp-remote",          "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",          "--header", "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"        ]      },      "settings": {}    }  }}

Gemini CLI — add to ~/.gemini/settings.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "poeditor": {      "url": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

Amazon Q Developer — add to ~/.aws/amazonq/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "poeditor": {      "url": "https://mcp.poeditor.com/mcp",      "headers": {        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_POEDITOR_API_TOKEN"      }    }  }}

See examples/ for Cline, Continue, Augment, and other client configurations.

3. Try it

Ask your assistant:

Authentication

  • Token — POEditor API token, passed as Authorization: Bearer <token> header
  • OAuth 2.1 (PKCE) — supported for one-click connect in Claude Code, Claude.ai Connectors, and compatible clients

Token scope: user's own projects only. No cross-tenant access. See Authentication.

Export formats

export_strings_file returns a download URL for the generated file. Any format POEditor supports can be requested — the LLM can read, parse, and work with the content directly regardless of format. See docs/tools.md for the full format list.
