Extract structured data from invoices, receipts and other documents with ParserBee.
Overview
ParserBee MCP lets an assistant extract structured data from invoices, receipts and other documents using your ParserBee Parser Templates.
- What you can do
- Extract structured fields from a local file or public link using a Parser Template, one page credit per page
- List your Parser Templates and read a single template with all of its fields
- Check page credit balance, plan and subscription status
- Review the last 10 extraction requests and fetch one request with its extracted data
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to pull structured fields out of invoices, receipts, purchase orders or bank statements, or to batch-read a folder of receipts into a table, without leaving the chat.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio via npx, so Node.js 18 or later is needed. A ParserBee account with at least one Parser Template, and an API key supplied in the PARSERBEE_API_KEY environment variable. Network access to the ParserBee service; an optional PARSERBEE_BASE_URL overrides the default endpoint.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Parserbee Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
ParserBee MCP server
[parserbee-mcp MCP server – quality and maintenance score on Glama]
A Model Context Protocol server for ParserBee. It lets an AI assistant extract structured data from invoices, receipts, purchase orders, bank statements and other documents, using your Parser Templates.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Extract the invoice in ~/Downloads/inv-2041.pdf with my Invoice template."
- "Read every receipt in this folder and give me a table of merchant, date and total."
- "How many ParserBee page credits do I have left?"
Tools
Before you start
- Create a free account at app.parserbee.com. New accounts get 25 free pages, no credit card.
- Create a Parser Template: upload one sample document and the AI builds the fields for you, or pick a ready-made one from the template library.
- Copy your API key from Settings in the dashboard. It starts with
pk_.
You need Node.js 18 or later.
Set up
Claude Desktop
Open Settings > Developer > Edit Config and add:
Restart Claude Desktop.
Claude Code
--scope user makes ParserBee available in every folder. Without it, Claude Code adds the server only to the folder you run the command in. Start a new Claude Code session afterwards, then check it with claude mcp list.
Cursor
Add the same mcpServers block to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project).
VS Code
Add to .vscode/mcp.json:
From a local copy
Point your client at node /path/to/parserbee-mcp/dist/index.js.
Settings
What comes back
extract_document returns the API response. The extracted fields are in data, shaped like your Parser Template:
Files can be PDF, PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC, up to 50 MB. Scans and phone photos work. API errors (an invalid key, no page credits left, an unknown template) come back as tool errors with the ParserBee error code, so the assistant can tell you what to fix.
Try it
The sample-invoices repository has 18 free test invoices with the correct value of every field, so you can check the results.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
