One API for 65 platforms and 572 endpoints: social, commerce, retail, jobs, finance, web scraping.

Overview

AI-generated overview

SocialCrawl gives an assistant one API to discover and call social media, commerce and web-scraping endpoints, with credit estimates before spending.

What you can do
  • Discover endpoints: turn a plain-language task into matching endpoints with parameters, missing inputs and credit cost, or list platforms and their endpoints
  • Inspect and price: read an endpoint's parameters, response fields, paging and cost rules, and estimate exact credits for one call or a multi-call plan
  • Fetch data: call a single endpoint to retrieve profiles, posts, comments, search results, trends and analytics, with local validation before spending
  • Collect paged results: walk a paged endpoint to a target number of unique rows or a credit cap, and read stored results by result id
  • Check account: view credit balance, transaction ledger, platform health and catalogue freshness
  • Manage…
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs social media or web data from many platforms through one credential instead of per-platform APIs, for example profile lookups, post and comment retrieval, keyword searches or trend monitoring. The free discovery and estimate tools make it easy to check feasibility and cost before committing credits.
Requirements
Runs as a remote endpoint or as a local npm package (socialcrawl-mcp) over stdio, typically launched with npx. A SocialCrawl account and API key are needed for paid calls, supplied as the SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY environment variable or an Authorization bearer header; discovery tools work without a key. Network access to the SocialCrawl API is required.
Before you install
Calls made with socialcrawl_request and socialcrawl_collect spend credits from a paid account, so set credit caps and confirm thresholds. The API key is a billable secret; keep it out of shared configs. Manage tools create and change stateful resources such as monitors, webhooks and background jobs. Queries and target URLs are sent to a third-party service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open SocialCrawl in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.RidioDevelopment%2Fsocialcrawl/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

MCP server for SocialCrawl — access 21+ social media platforms through one unified API.

What it does

SocialCrawl MCP gives AI agents instant access to 21 social media platforms and 105 endpoints through a single, unified API. Retrieve profiles, posts, comments, search results, trending content, and analytics from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Reddit, and more — no per-platform authentication required. Agents discover available endpoints dynamically, so they always work with the latest capabilities without any hardcoded platform logic.

Quick Setup

Claude Desktop

Add to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (Windows):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "socialcrawl": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "socialcrawl-mcp"],      "env": {        "SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"      }    }  }}

Cursor

Add to .cursor/mcp.json in your project root or ~/.cursor/mcp.json globally:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "socialcrawl": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "socialcrawl-mcp"],      "env": {        "SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"      }    }  }}

VS Code (Claude Code)

Add to .vscode/mcp.json in your project or your user settings:

json
{  "servers": {    "socialcrawl": {      "type": "stdio",      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "socialcrawl-mcp"],      "env": {        "SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY": "your_api_key_here"      }    }  }}

Example

User prompt: "Get the TikTok profile for charlidamelio"

Agent flow:

  1. Calls socialcrawl_list_endpoints with platform: "tiktok" to discover available endpoints
  2. Finds user/info endpoint — takes a username parameter, costs 1 credit
  3. Calls socialcrawl_request with platform: "tiktok", endpoint: "user/info", params: { username: "charlidamelio" }
  4. Returns profile data: follower count, bio, video count, verification status, and more

socialcrawl_find

Find the Endpoint for a Task

Start here: a task in plain words -> the best endpoints (3 by default) of 646, each with the params the task supplies (URLs and @handles resolved), the params still missing, the credit cost and the exact call. With no task it lists platforms, or one platform's endpoints. Free; no key needed.

Parameterstasklimitplatform

socialcrawl_endpoint

Endpoint Contract

Read before calling: one endpoint's purpose, params, where the rows are and up to 25 response fields, cost rule, paging, latency, timeout, next endpoints and a sample link. id (or platform+resource, path), a platform slug (its endpoints) or a guide topic. Free.

Parametersidrequiredpagemethod

socialcrawl_estimate

Estimate Credit Cost

Exact credits before you spend: one call (id, platform+resource or path, plus the params you will send; calls for a job total; items for a walk) or a plan of several calls. Uses the API's estimator when available, else the bundled pricing. A platform slug gives its price table; no id gives the pricing overview. Free.

Parametersidbodyplancallsitemsmethodparams

socialcrawl_request

Call an Endpoint

Call one endpoint (platform+resource, or id, or path). Validated locally first (a bad call is free), quoted, refused above max_credits and confirmed above the threshold. A large page is cut at row boundaries; socialcrawl_collect result_id reads the rest. Spends credits; needs SOCIALCRAWL_API_KEY.

Parametersbodyfieldsformatmethodparamsconfirmplatformrequiredresourcerequiredmax_itemsmax_creditsidempotencyKey

socialcrawl_collect

Collect Rows Across Pages

Walk a paged endpoint (id, platform+resource or path) to `items` unique rows, the last page or max_credits: cursors supplied, duplicates dropped, stops on a 402, refused free when one page exceeds max_credits. Small results come back whole. result_id (+offset, limit, format) reads a stored result, free. Spends credits.

Parametersiditemslimitfieldsformatoffsetparamsconfirmresult_idmax_credits

socialcrawl_account

Account and Service Status

Free checks: balance (with this session's spend), transactions (itemised ledger; the receipts for one request_id), status (platform health; read it before retrying a 502/503) and freshness (whether this server's bundled catalogue is behind the API).

Parametersviewlimitcursorrequest_id

socialcrawl_manage

Manage Monitors, Cohorts, Web and Jobs

Stateful work by area + action: monitors (scheduled recipes, webhooks, alerts), cohorts (mention search over your own panel of accounts), web (scrape, search, crawl and agent jobs, change monitors, browser sessions) and jobs (Prism background jobs). A wrong field is refused free with the rules. Managing is free; scrapes, jobs, queries and monitor runs bill credits. dry_run: true validates and quotes a create/update and never creates it. rows_new alerts need track (id=monitors).
