Share coding-agent sessions with your team: /share in one agent, /pickup in another.

Overview

AI-generated overview

Shares coding-agent sessions with teammates so an assistant can hand off work, pick up someone else's session, and coordinate live.

What you can do
  • List and search shared sessions, including handoffs assigned to you and filters by file or branch
  • Load a shared session as a handoff with summary, decisions, next steps and conversation at several detail levels
  • Share the current session, following the repo's handoff template, and update or comment on existing shares
  • Read the uncommitted diff a teammate attached to a session
  • See recent team activity and who is working live, with the files they touch
  • Start, message, check the inbox of, update and stop live sessions
When to use it
Useful for teams where several people or agents work on the same repositories and need to pass work between Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor or similar agents, or to coordinate while working in parallel.
Requirements
Runs as a local npm package (session-relay) over stdio, installed globally and set up with the relay CLI. Needs a team Session Relay server, given by the RELAY_SERVER environment variable or saved through relay login, and a personal access token in RELAY_TOKEN unless you logged in. Desktop only.
Before you install
Shared sessions, comments and live messages are uploaded to your team's server, so anything included is visible to teammates; the tooling asks you not to include secrets, and the README says credentials are stripped locally before upload, but review what is sent. Sharing, updating, commenting, deleting and live messaging all write data others can see. Messages from teammates reach the agent between steps; the server's instructions say to show them to the user and ask before acting unless auto…

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Session Relay in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

session-relay

Share coding-agent sessions with your team across Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor and ZCode. Run /share in one agent; a teammate runs /pickup in whichever agent they use and carries on with the goal, decisions, next steps and recent conversation.

sh
npm install -g session-relayrelay login --server https://relay.your-team.com # approve in the browserrelay setup # adds the relay MCP server and /share, /pickup, /live to your agents

Then, in your agent:

/share/share for bob/pickup/pickup alice's webhook retry work/live # working at the same time: see who's on what, message their session

You need a Session Relay server for your team; see self-hosting. Cloud hosting is coming soon.

Nothing is uploaded unless you share it. API keys, tokens, passwords and private keys are removed on your machine before upload, and relay share --dry-run shows exactly what would be sent. See security & privacy.
