Read-only notes: list, search and read Markdown or text notes inside one folder.
Overview
A read-only MCP server that lets an assistant list, search and read Markdown and text notes inside a single folder.
- What you can do
- List every note in the configured folder
- Search notes for text they contain
- Read a single note, up to 64 KB
- Restrict access to .md, .markdown and .txt files inside one root folder
- When to use it
- Useful when you keep notes as Markdown or text files in one folder and want an assistant to look things up in them without giving it write access or access to the rest of the disk.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, typically via npx with the npm package proofmark-notes, so Node.js is needed. Set the NOTES_ROOT environment variable to the folder holding the notes; it defaults to the working directory. No authentication is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Proofmark Notes in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
