Overview

AI-generated overview

A local personal memory graph that lets AI agents keep long-term memory on your own machine over MCP and REST.

What you can do
  • Store and recall long-term memory for AI agents in a personal memory graph on your machine
  • Serve that memory to MCP clients and to REST callers
  • Run as a local service started by an MCP client through the launcher
  • Install, update and configure the program through setup and update commands
When to use it
Worth adding when you want an assistant to remember things across sessions without sending that memory to a hosted service, and you are comfortable running a local service on macOS or Linux.
Requirements
macOS or Linux (x86_64, arm64), Node.js 18 or newer, and curl for the model download during setup. A one-time setup run is required, which asks you to accept the licence, choose encryption settings and record a 24-word recovery phrase. Windows requires Docker Desktop or WSL.
Before you install
Setup shows a 24-word recovery phrase that you must write down and keep safe; losing it may affect access to your encrypted memory. Setup downloads models and the program release from GitHub, so network access is needed. The launcher downloads and runs a release binary after checking it against a signed manifest's checksums. The software is under a separate end-user licence agreement.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open anairyspirit in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

anairyspirit

A personal AI memory graph that runs on your own machine. Your AI agents keep long-term memory in it over MCP and REST; apart from the model download at setup (if that breaks off, the service finishes the entity model in the background), nothing leaves the machine.

This package installs it and runs it — macOS and Linux (x86_64, arm64), Node 18 or newer, and curl (setup downloads the models with it). It carries no program itself: it downloads the release it was built for from GitHub and checks it against the checksums of that release's signed manifest before anything runs.

Install

bash
npx anairyspirit setup

setup asks you to accept the licence (answer y), asks about encryption and the rest, shows a 24-word recovery phrase (write it down), installs the program as anairyspirit (in /usr/local/bin, or ~/.local/bin — then open a new terminal) and starts its service.

npm i anairyspirit only adds this launcher (as anairyspirit-npm); the install is the npx line above.

Windows has no build of its own: run anairyspirit in Docker Desktop, or inside WSL with the line above — https://github.com/Seventhwalllab/anairyspirit#install

Use it from an AI client

Once installed, every command goes to the installed program, so an MCP client can start it like this:

json
{ "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "anairyspirit", "mcp"] }

Update

bash
npx anairyspirit@latest update

installs the newest release over yours — your memory, settings and keys stay. An install made by Homebrew or a package is updated the way it came; the program says how.

Installed with npm i -g

The command is then anairyspirit-npm (the program itself is anairyspirit, and the two must not share a name): anairyspirit-npm setup, anairyspirit-npm update.

Other ways to install — a macOS disk image, Homebrew, Debian/Ubuntu and Fedora/openSUSE packages, Docker — and the manual: https://github.com/Seventhwalllab/anairyspirit

The program and this package are distributed under the An Airy Spirit End-User Licence Agreement: LICENSE and EULA.txt in this package, shown again by setup.

Score

40% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
