Convert between document formats — DOCX/PDF to Markdown, Markdown to DOCX.

The publisher's own server: convert.express

Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that converts DOCX and PDF files to Markdown and Markdown back to DOCX, with CLI support.

What you can do
  • Convert DOCX or PDF documents into Markdown, extracting text, formatting, tables and images
  • Convert Markdown into DOCX with academic styling such as Times New Roman plus SimSun fonts and three-line tables
  • Run the same conversions from a command line as well as from an MCP client
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to read Word or PDF documents as Markdown, or turn Markdown notes or drafts into a formatted Word file, for example for academic-style papers.
Requirements
Runs as a local Python package (pip install shuck-convert or uvx) over stdio; needs Python 3.10+ and Pandoc installed for Markdown to DOCX conversion. No accounts, keys or environment variables are declared.
Before you install
It reads and writes document files on the local machine, so point it only at files you are willing to have processed and check where output files are written. No credentials or network access are declared.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open shuck-convert in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
