Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP connector for Stock Compass that lets an AI read and update your watchlist, holdings, signals, trades and journal for HK, US and China A-shares.

What you can do
  • Read watchlist, holdings, trades, signals and price alerts
  • Record, correct or delete trades and change stops or targets
  • Add or remove watchlist stocks and set price alerts
  • Help draft strategies and interpret backtest results
  • Expose 11 tools in total: 4 that read and 7 that write
When to use it
Useful if you already keep a Stock Compass journal and want an AI assistant to answer questions about your own records or to log trades and alerts while you chat. It suits traders tracking Hong Kong, US or China A-share positions who want record-keeping help, not order execution.
Requirements
A Stock Compass Pro account or the free trial, started on the site first if you use ChatGPT. An AI app whose plan allows custom MCP servers or connectors. Sign-in via OAuth at stock-compass.app, or an API key sent as an Authorization Bearer header for clients without OAuth. Network access to the remote endpoint.
Before you install
It writes to your account: trades, watchlist entries, stops, targets and alerts can be added, changed or deleted, so grant read-only access unless changes are needed. It never places broker orders. Records the AI reads become part of that AI provider's conversation and fall under its privacy terms. Revoke access or API keys under Settings when done.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Stock Compass in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.Stock-Compass%2Fstock-compass/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Stock Compass for AI apps

Use your Stock Compass records from any AI app or agent. You can ask about your watchlist, holdings, signals, trades and journal; have it record, correct or delete a trade, change a stop or target, or set a price alert; or get help writing a strategy and reading a backtest. It covers Hong Kong, US and China A-shares.

It only keeps records. Recording a trade writes it into your Stock Compass journal. It never places an order with a broker.

What it looks like: stock-compass.app/en/ai · the site itself, with sample data: demo.

[In ChatGPT, the user asks to record a buy of 5 NVDA at 205. The AI shows the trade marked pending confirmation, not saved yet; after Confirm and save trade, Stock Compass records it and lists the updated holdings.]

Recording a buy in ChatGPT: a preview first, saved only after you confirm. No order goes to a broker.

Before you start

  • A Stock Compass Pro account, or the free trial. New accounts can try Pro free, with no card. With ChatGPT, start it on the site first: ChatGPT's approval page cannot start one.
  • An AI app whose plan can add a custom MCP server (also called a custom connector). That is each company's rule, and it changes. As their help pages put it on 2026-10-31:
    • Claude: every plan (Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team, Enterprise). Free allows one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it for the organization first. (Claude help)
    • ChatGPT: on chatgpt.com, not the mobile apps. Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces can (on Business, admins and owners add it). A personal Pro account can read but not make changes. Other plans are not listed. (OpenAI help)
    • Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients: add a remote MCP server; where OAuth is not supported, use an API key.

Let your AI set it up

Paste this into your AI app (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor or any other):

text
Set me up with Stock Compass: open https://stock-compass.app/ai/setup.md and follow it step by step to install it, sign me up and get me started.

The AI reads the setup guide and walks you through connecting your app. If you have no account yet, it also helps you sign up; new accounts get a free Pro trial with no card. You sign in on stock-compass.app itself and never give the AI your password. To do it by hand instead, see Connect your AI app.

Skill, skills/stock-compass/Teaches an AI how all of Stock Compass works and the rules for using it. It covers signals, strategies and every indicator, backtests, trades, fees, the journal, execution discipline, sizing, alerts, emails, plans, API keys and the REST API.Apps that load Agent Skills (SKILL.md). For other apps, the files can be read as plain documentation.
Claude plugin, .claude-plugin/Installs the connector and the skill in one stepClaude (web, desktop app, Cowork) and Claude Code

The skill is three reference files plus SKILL.md. An AI reads a file only when the question needs it:

  • SKILL.md: when to use the tools, and the rules (confirm before any change, no advice);
  • product.md: every page, plan, email and setting;
  • strategies.md: rules, all 96 indicators, strategy JSON import, backtests;
  • api.md: OAuth, API keys, MCP tools, REST endpoints and errors.

Connect your AI app

AppHow
Claude (web, desktop app, Cowork)Customize → Plugins → Add → Add marketplace → Stock-Compass/stock-compass-plugin. Install Stock Compass, then connect it on the plugin's Connectors tab.
Claude Codeclaude plugin marketplace add Stock-Compass/stock-compass-plugin, then claude plugin install stock-compass@stock-compass. In Claude Code, /reload-plugins, then /mcp to sign in.
ChatGPTStart Pro or the free trial on stock-compass.app first: ChatGPT's approval page cannot start one. Then chatgpt.com/plugins → + → Add custom MCP server. Paste https://stock-compass.app/api/mcp and choose OAuth.
Any other MCP clientAdd https://stock-compass.app/api/mcp as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth, or with the header Authorization: Bearer sc_… and an API key. It is in the official MCP Registry as io.github.Stock-Compass/stock-compass (listing) and on Glama.
Scripts, or tools without MCPUse the REST API at https://stock-compass.app/api/v1 with an API key. See api.md.

Each app sends you to stock-compass.app to sign in and approve it:

  • Read only (the default): your watchlist, holdings, trades, signals and price alerts.
  • Read and make changes: also add or remove watchlist stocks, record, correct or delete trades, change stops and targets, and set price alerts.

You can disconnect, or revoke an API key, at any time under Settings → AI apps & API on stock-compass.app.

Add the skill to your AI

  • Claude: the plugin above includes it.
  • Apps that load Agent Skills: copy the skills/stock-compass folder into the app's skills folder. Each app documents its own location.
  • Any other AI: give it the files above, or point it at stock-compass.app/llms.txt for a short summary.

Things to ask

  • "What's on my Hong Kong watchlist, and what are my stops?"
  • "Which buy signals did my strategies record this week?"
  • "I bought 200 shares of 700 at 382.4 today. Record it, stop at 350."
  • "Help me write a breakout strategy with an 8% stop, and give me the JSON to import."
  • "Why did my backtest say PARTIAL?"
  • "What does 'cost of waiting' on my journal page mean?"

Data

When you use it, the AI reads the records it needs from your account and sends Stock Compass only the changes you approve. What it reads becomes part of your conversation with that AI, under its provider's privacy terms. Stock Compass stores your sign-in only as a hashed token or key, and logs every change made through a connection; you can see the log in Settings. See the privacy policy.
