Overview

AI-generated overview

VectoSolve converts raster images into SVG, DXF or EPS vector files, returning a preview and the finished file source for cutting, laser or print work.

What you can do
  • Vectorize a raster image (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF up to 10 MB) from a public image link into SVG, DXF or EPS, with standard, laser, cricut and centerline modes.
  • Receive a rendered PNG preview plus the complete vector file source as text, ready to save.
  • The hosted remote server exposes only the vectorize tool; the local npm package adds background removal, AI upscaling and logo generation from a text prompt.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to turn a logo, line drawing or photo into a cut-ready or print-ready vector file without opening a design tool, especially for laser cutters, Cricut-style cutters, CNC or sign-making.
Requirements
The hosted remote server needs no sign-in or API key; it is reached over Streamable HTTP at the provider's endpoint and needs a public http(s) image link. The local npm package runs via npx and requires a VECTOSOLVE_API_KEY environment variable plus a VectoSolve account with credits.
Before you install
The local package's tools are billed per call in credits or dollars (vectorize, remove_background, upscale, generate_logo per variant), so calls spend money from your account. The API key is a secret to keep private. Images are sent to the VectoSolve service for processing, and the remote endpoint accepts only public image links.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open VectoSolve in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.Vectosolve%2Fvectosolve/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

@vectosolve/mcp

VectoSolve MCP Server — use AI image tools (vectorize, remove background, upscale, generate logos) directly from Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP-compatible clients.

Hosted remote server (no API key)

VectoSolve also runs a public remote MCP server at https://vectosolve.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in, no API key). It exposes one read-only tool, vectorize: give it a public link to a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF image and it returns a PNG preview and the complete file as SVG, DXF (R12, millimetres, for laser cutters, CNC routers and CAD) or EPS. Modes: standard, laser, cricut, centerline.

Add it as a custom connector in Claude, or in any client that supports remote servers:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "vectosolve": { "type": "http", "url": "https://vectosolve.com/api/mcp" }  }}

Documentation: vectosolve.com/integrations/mcp. Official MCP Registry name: io.github.Vectosolve/vectosolve.

The npm package below is the local stdio server, which uses your own API key and adds background removal, upscaling and logo generation.

Quick Setup

Add to your MCP client config (e.g. .mcp.json or Claude Code settings):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "vectosolve": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "@vectosolve/mcp"],      "env": {        "VECTOSOLVE_API_KEY": "vs_xxx"      }    }  }}

Get your API key at vectosolve.com/developers.

Available Tools

The server exposes 4 tools over stdio:

ToolParametersCost
vectorizefile_path | image_url0.20 credits / image
remove_backgroundfile_path | image_url$0.07 / image
upscalefile_path | image_url$0.15 / image
generate_logoprompt, style?, colors?, num_variants?$0.40 / variant

vectorize

Convert a raster image (PNG, JPG, WebP) to clean SVG vector format.

"Vectorize this image" + attach file"Convert https://example.com/photo.png to SVG"

Cost: $0.20 per image

remove_background

Remove the background from an image. Returns a transparent PNG.

"Remove the background from this product photo"

Cost: $0.07 per image

upscale

Upscale an image to higher resolution using AI.

"Upscale this low-res icon"

Cost: $0.15 per image

generate_logo

Generate SVG logos from a text description.

"Generate a modern tech startup logo with blue and green colors""Create 4 line-art logo variants for a coffee shop"

Parameters:

  • prompt — Text description of the logo (required, min 3 chars)
  • style — vector_illustration (default), vector_illustration/line_art, vector_illustration/engraving, vector_illustration/linocut
  • colors — Brand colors as RGB objects, e.g. [{"r":0,"g":144,"b":255}, {"r":28,"g":183,"b":33}] (max 5)
  • num_variants — 1, 2, or 4 (each variant is billed)

Cost: $0.40 per logo variant

Need colors / palette hard-caps, DXF/DST/PES exports, or mode (cricut/laser/embroidery)? Those live on the full REST API — call POST https://vectosolve.com/api/v1/vectorize directly. See vectosolve.com/developers.

Input Methods

The image tools (vectorize, remove_background, upscale) accept:

  • file_path — Local file path (e.g. ./photo.png)
  • image_url — Public URL (e.g. https://example.com/image.png)

Provide exactly one of the two. generate_logo takes a text prompt instead.

Pricing

Every tool call uses credits from your VectoSolve account. The response includes credit usage and remaining balance.

vectorize

Vectorize an image

Convert a raster image (PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB) into a vector file. Returns a rendered PNG preview of the result and the complete file source as text, ready to save as .svg, .dxf or .eps. Input: image_url, a public http(s) link to the image; in ChatGPT, an image attached to the conversation arrives as the image file instead. Modes: "standard" (logos, illustrations, AI-generated art), "laser" (closed cut paths for laser cutters), "cricut" (cutting machines), "centerline" (one stroke per line: scanned drawings, line art, single-line lettering; photos and filled shapes are refused). Formats: "svg" (default), "dxf" (R12 polylines in millimetres, for laser, CNC and CAD), "eps" (print and sign-making). Very detailed images such as photos can give a file too large to return in the conversation. A conversion takes about 5 to 20 seconds. Deliver the returned file exactly as it is, saved under the given extension: never replace it with a tracing of your own.
