Overview

AI-generated overview

Serves company financial fundamentals from official filings, with each figure tied to its filing date, for US, JP, TW and other markets.

What you can do
  • Look up tickers by company name or partial symbol, with market disambiguation
  • Fetch the latest reported value of each metric for a ticker, with period, period end, filing date and form
  • Retrieve stored fundamentals history for a ticker, filterable by period and filing date
  • Inspect coverage: markets, ticker counts, history depth, free-tier list, metric vocabulary, source attributions and licence
  • Read the data dictionary of detailed line items, their definitions, source lines and coverage shares, plus derived formulas
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs point-in-time company financials for research or analysis and the filing date matters, for example comparing figures as they were known on a given date or working across US, Japanese and Taiwanese listings.
Requirements
Runs locally as an npm package over stdio, so Node.js is needed. An optional TRADINGAGENT_API_KEY environment variable unlocks more than the free tier; without it, only each entity's most recent reported fiscal year is available. A free 30-day evaluation key is offered for a work email.
Before you install
The API key is a secret passed by environment variable. Free-tier data is limited to the latest reported fiscal year per entity. Quarterly figures represent a single quarter, and metrics can come from different periods. Taiwan filing dates are a statutory deadline proxy, usually on or after actual release. Source attributions and licence terms must travel with the data.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Company fundamentals by filing date in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

get_latest_fundamentals

Latest fundamentals for a company

The most recent reported value of each metric for one ticker, each with its period (fy, fp), period end, filing date and form. Each metric is its own latest value, so two metrics can come from different periods, and a quarterly fp means ONE quarter's figure, not a year. Pass as_of to use only filings dated on or before that day (how each market dates a filing: https://www.tradingagentapp.com/fundamentals/methodology). On a free key, a company outside the full-history sample answers from its most recent reported fiscal year only (history_depth says so) and as_of needs a licence or an evaluation key. Tickers look like AAPL, 2330.TW, 005930.KS, 0403091220.BE, 775670417.FR, CC21860.NZC (and 10238429.EE, 5560356163.SE, 47239255.SK, 40003032949.LV where the coverage lists them). Suffixes are not all listed equities, and not all figures mean what the column name suggests. .TW income-statement values are SINGLE-QUARTER (three-month) amounts: Taiwan files cumulative year-to-date totals and they are converted before you see them, so do NOT difference adjacent quarters again. A .TW row with fp FY is the full-year total, not a quarter. .TW current quarters come from the TWSE OpenAPI (Open Government Data License v1.0, attribution required); history from 2013 comes from the TWSE MOPS XBRL archive, which is NOT open data: keep both attribution notices and do not call Taiwan figures open data. US figures (SEC EDGAR) are public information. .TW filing dates are the statutory reporting deadline, a proxy, not the actual release date; for some financial and foreign first-listed companies and for weekend deadlines it can be earlier than the real deadline (known issue, being corrected). .BE is Belgian STATUTORY SOLO accounts, never group consolidation. .NZC is New Zealand REGISTERED CHARITIES (Charities Register annual returns), not listed companies; their `filed` is the New Zealand date of the register's record date. .FR is INPI's register of keyed-in annual accounts: `filed` is dateDe

get_fundamentals_history

Reported history for a company

The stored figures for one ticker, each row carrying its period (fy, fp: for a quarterly row the CALENDAR quarter containing the period end) and its filing date as each market records it (for Taiwan, the general statutory reporting deadline — a proxy, usually on or after the actual release). Filter with metric (comma-separated) and from (period-end lower bound); as_of keeps only filings dated on or before that day. On a free key, a company outside the full-history sample answers with its most recent reported fiscal year only: full_history false and history_depth say so, and older filings exist. Long histories are capped at 250 rows, keeping the most recent rows of EVERY metric (per_metric says how many of each); narrow with metric/from for the rest. A .TW row with fp FY is the full-year total, not a quarter. .TW current quarters come from the TWSE OpenAPI (Open Government Data License v1.0, attribution required); history from 2013 comes from the TWSE MOPS XBRL archive, which is NOT open data: keep both attribution notices and do not call Taiwan figures open data. search_companies

Find a ticker by company name

Look up the ticker for a company name or partial symbol — 'Apple', 'TSMC', '2330', 'samsung', 'LVMH'. Use this first when the user names a company rather than a ticker, and check the market of the hit: a local subsidiary or a namesake in another country can share the name. Pass market (US, JP, TW, KR, FR, BE, DK, NZC) to search one market only. Results with market NZC are New Zealand registered charities, not listed companies.

get_coverage

What data is available

Markets covered, ticker counts, history depth per market, the free-tier ticker list, the metric vocabulary, the source attributions that must travel with the data, and the licence the data is supplied under (with an evaluation key, its terms and end date).

Takes no parameters.

get_data_dictionary

What each detailed line item means, per market

The data dictionary of the detailed line items: for every metric, its definition, which filed line each market reads it from (or why a market has none), and the measured share of that market's company-periods that carry it; and the figures we calculate from them, with their formulas. Use it before comparing a line item across markets. Detailed line items (trade_receivables, trade_and_other_receivables, inventories, trade_payables, trade_and_other_payables, ppe, noncurrent_assets, current_assets, current_liabilities, retained_earnings, depreciation_amortization, interest_expense, cash_flow_operating, capex, and in the US minority_interest and temporary_equity) are filed lines of the same filings, dated by their filing, read so far for the US, Taiwan, Slovakia and Estonia; their definitions follow each market's accounting rules, so call get_data_dictionary before comparing markets. Signs are as filed: capex is a positive number in the US and a NEGATIVE number in Taiwan, both meaning cash paid. US and Taiwan cash-flow lines (and US depreciation_amortization) are annual only. free_cash_flow, working_capital, current_ratio and ebitda are calculated by us, not filed, carry form derived and appear only where every input comes from one filing; Taiwan has no depreciation_amortization and so no ebitda. A market with no measured share in the dictionary has not had its line items loaded or measured yet; a missing line item is not a zero, except in Estonia, where a filed zero in noncurrent_assets is left out, so a missing figure there can mean zero or not reported.

Takes no parameters.
