Read-only view of what fills a Mac: disk usage, cleanup candidates, largest items, app leftovers.
The publisher's own server: core.blue
Overview
CoreTend is a local macOS disk-cleanup tool whose MCP server gives an assistant a read-only view of disk usage, cleanup candidates, largest items and app data.
- What you can do
- Inspect disk usage and what fills the Mac's home folder, including a map of large files and exact duplicates. Review cleanup candidates such as caches, logs, developer files, simulators, package manager stores and local AI models. Identify the largest items and app leftovers that take space or start on their own. The MCP surface is described as read-only; moving items to the Trash is done in the CoreTend app after review, with Undo.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to explain what is consuming space on a Mac, suggest safe cleanup candidates, or find large files and leftover app data before you decide what to remove in the CoreTend app.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process on macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple silicon or Intel), started via the npm package coretend (for example with npx). Full Disk Access is requested once to read Mail, Safari and app data; without it, only what macOS allows is read. No account or API key is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open CoreTend in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Around the Mac
- Shortcuts and Siri: Get Free Space, Get Space to Clear, Open CoreTend (read and open only).
- Widget: free space and what the last Clean found.
- Finder: right-click a folder › Analyze with CoreTend; or drop it on the Dock icon.
- System features (optional): tidy
/Library/Cachesand turn third-party system services on or off, delete a local Time Machine snapshot or rebuild the Spotlight index, through a small signed helper installed only when you turn it on in Settings › System.
What CoreTend will never do
- Erase your files for good. Moves go to the macOS Trash after your review; CoreTend checks each item again just before, and Undo puts it back. The one exception is a local Time Machine snapshot you pick and confirm in Settings › System, which macOS cannot put back.
- Scare you. No health score, no alarm, no invented figure.
- Watch you. No account, no telemetry, nothing in the background. CoreTend asks this site whether an update exists (you can turn it off), and reads your apps' own update feeds only when you click Check for updates in Apps.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel. English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese (follows macOS). CoreTend asks for Full Disk Access once, to read Mail, Safari and app data; without it, it reads what macOS allows.
Build from source
Swift 6, SwiftPM; one runtime dependency, Sparkle, for signed updates. The code is organised in modules: DesignSystem (the Serre
design and the living greenhouse), ScanCore (read-only scanning), SafetyCore (the only code that
may move a file — to the Trash), Domain, Persistence, AppShell and the app itself, plus
the widget (CoreTendWidget), the Finder menu (CoreTendFinder) and the optional system helper
(CoreTendHelper, HelperProtocol), which link no other package.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
