Props, examples, CSS variables and Agent Skills for bestax-bulma React components (Bulma v1)

Overview

AI-generated overview

Gives a coding assistant offline reference data on bestax-bulma React components: props, examples, CSS variables and skills.

What it does
Serves a bundled index of the @allxsmith/bestax-bulma component library for Bulma v1. Tools list all 87 components, search components, props, examples, CSS variables and skills, and return a component's import, props, tsx examples, --bulma-* custom properties, helper props and Bulma class mappings. It also exposes seven Agent Skills as prompts and resources.
When to use it
Use it when writing or reviewing React UI code that uses bestax-bulma, so the assistant can look up real props, examples and CSS variables instead of guessing. It is most useful when you want component guidance without leaving the editor or making network calls.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio, typically via npx bestax-mcp@1, so Node.js and npm are needed. It should be started from the project directory so it can find the installed @allxsmith/bestax-bulma version. No accounts, API keys or network access are required; the optional BESTAX_MCP_NO_VERSION_CHECK variable skips the version check.
Before you install
The index documents one specific bestax-bulma release and warns when your installed version differs, so treat mismatched results with care. Running without the @1 version pin lets npx resolve the newest release on every launch, so a breaking or compromised release could reach the assistant unreviewed; pinning the version or adding it to dev dependencies avoids that.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Bestax in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

bestax-mcp

[npm version] [npm downloads] [License: MIT] [Socket Badge] [OpenSSF Scorecard] [OpenSSF Best Practices] [npm provenance] [Security policy]

The official MCP server for @allxsmith/bestax-bulma — React components for Bulma v1.

It gives a coding agent the whole library: every component's props (including compound sub-parts like Navbar.Brand), ~900 working examples, the --bulma-* CSS variables behind every component, the helper props that replace inline styles, and the bestax Agent Skills as invocable prompts.

Offline and version-pinned. The index ships inside the package — no network calls, nothing to rate-limit. It documents one specific bestax-bulma release, and the server checks the version actually installed in your project and warns you when they disagree, rather than confidently describing props you do not have.

Setup

Each release is published to the official MCP Registry as io.github.allxsmith/bestax-mcp, for clients that install from it.

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add bestax -- npx -y bestax-mcp@1

Cursor, Claude Desktop, Windsurf, Cline

Add to your MCP config (.cursor/mcp.json, claude_desktop_config.json, …):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "bestax": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "bestax-mcp@1"]    }  }}

Run it from your project directory so it can find your installed @allxsmith/bestax-bulma and check it against the indexed version.

The @1 pins the major version. Without it, npx resolves whatever is newest on every launch — so a breaking change, or a compromised release, reaches your agent the next time it starts, with no review step. Add it to your dev dependencies instead if you would rather your lockfile decide.

Tools

Start with list_components — its output names the tool to call next. Reach for search_bestax when you need a component whose name you do not know.

ToolWhat it gives you
list_componentsAll 87 components with a one-line purpose, by category
search_bestaxComponents, props, examples, CSS variables and skills in one ranked list
get_componentImport, summary and props; optionally examples, CSS variables, accessibility, related
get_propsOne prop table, including compound sub-paths (Navbar.Brand)
get_examplesWorking tsx examples from the component's docs page
get_css_variablesThe --bulma-* custom properties a component reads, with Sass names and defaults
get_helper_propsSpacing, colour, typography, flexbox and visibility props — call this before writing an inline style
lookup_bulma_classesThe bestax component and props for a Bulma class string (button is-primary), one row per class
list_skillsThe seven bestax Agent Skills
get_skillA skill's instructions, or one of its reference documents

Prompts

One per skill, so a task can start from the library's own guidance: custom-component, form, theming, layout-scaffold, icons, migrate, optimize.
