Full jitter exponential backoff retry scheduling and half-open circuit breaker for LLM APIs
Overview
A local MCP server that gives an assistant full-jitter exponential backoff retry scheduling and a half-open circuit breaker for LLM API calls.
- What you can do
- Compute retry delays using full-jitter exponential backoff for LLM API calls
- Track and advance a half-open circuit breaker state machine
- Provide retry scheduling logic as a reusable skill for assistant workflows
- Run entirely on the Python 3 standard library with no dependencies
- When to use it
- Useful when building or debugging resilient LLM API clients and you want the assistant to reason about retry timing, jitter and circuit breaker states rather than hand-rolling them.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process on the user's machine, launched with Python 3 (the README configures it as a python command running mcp_server.py). Desktop client only; no authentication, environment variables or headers declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open GenPark Adaptive Exponential Backoff with Jitter Retry in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

40% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
