Overview

AI-generated overview

EyeStill Speed Reader shows web pages, public-domain books and chat answers in an in-chat speed reader that displays one word at a time.

What you can do
  • Open text in an interactive speed reader view inside the chat, from a public web page or article URL, a public-domain book or chapter, or text from the conversation.
  • Control playback in the reader view: play, pause, adjust speed from 100 to 1,000 words per minute, and move position.
  • Load the text of a page or book, or its next part, for the reader view.
  • Keep track of the current word so the assistant can explain the passage, recap, quiz, or continue later from the same spot.
When to use it
Useful when you want to read long web articles, public-domain books or the assistant's own answers faster, and want the assistant to stay aware of where you are so it can explain, recap or quiz on the passage.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at eyestill.com; no account, API key, environment variable or header is declared. The README also describes installing it as a Claude plugin or connector.
Before you install
The reader fetches text from URLs you supply, so page content is retrieved by the EyeStill service rather than locally. The README points to separate privacy and terms pages on the vendor site; review them before use.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open EyeStill Speed Reader in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.artemartsokolov%2Feyestill/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

EyeStill for Claude

Read web pages, public-domain books and Claude's own answers faster: one word at a time in a fixed spot, right in the chat. You set the speed, and Claude knows where you are, so it can explain the passage, recap, quiz you or continue later from the same word. (The words scroll past on a rotating cylinder, like a slot-machine reel.)

  • /eyestill https://… — read a web page
  • /eyestill Moby Dick, chapter 30 — a public-domain book from Project Gutenberg, from a chapter
  • /eyestill why is the sky blue? — the answer, written straight into the reader
  • /eyestill — your last answer in the reader

The plugin adds the EyeStill connector (https://eyestill.com/mcp, no account) and a skill with these rules.

Speed-read with EyeStill

Opens text in EyeStill, a speed reader shown in the chat as an interactive view. The view shows one word at a time at a single point of focus (RSVP) on a 3D drum, with play, pause, speed (100 to 1,000 words per minute) and position controls. Takes exactly one of: url (a public web article, page or plain-text file; the server extracts its readable text), book (title and/or author of a public-domain book, fetched from Project Gutenberg), or text (any text, such as text from the conversation or an answer composed for reading in the view). Text is displayed while it streams in, so reading can start before it is complete. The text is shown only in the view; the result reports its title and word count. Plain prose reads best: Markdown, tables and code appear as raw text. A text can be opened at a word number (start_word, as reported by the reader's context) or at the first place a phrase appears, such as a chapter heading (start_at). While the user reads, the view shares the current position and passage as context.
