Free live public data (weather, quakes, ISS) plus one spend-capped paid tool.
Overview
A local MCP server giving assistants free live public data (weather, earthquakes, ISS position) plus one paid tool with a hard USDC spending cap.
- What you can do
- Retrieve free live public data such as weather, earthquakes and the International Space Station position through the server's tools, and use one additional paid tool whose spending is limited by a configured cap. The manifest lists no individual tools, so the exact operations are not documented here.
- When to use it
- Worth adding when an assistant needs quick, live public reference data like weather or seismic events, or occasional access to a single paid data tool where a strict spending limit is acceptable.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process on the user's machine, installed from the pubdata-mcp PyPI package, so a Python runtime is needed. Desktop only. The environment variable PUBDATA_MCP_MAX_SPEND_USDC sets the lifetime USDC spending cap (default 0.10). No authentication is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Pubdata Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
