Anti-detection browser automation with Camoufox - stealth Firefox for web scraping
Overview
A local MCP server that drives Camoufox, an anti-detection Firefox, so an assistant can automate browsing, scrape pages and manage isolated authenticated web-sn
- What you can do
- Create, list, save and close isolated browser sessions, optionally pre-loading cookies and localStorage from context files, and inject context into a session. Open, list, select and close pages, and navigate, go back or forward, reload. Click, hover, fill forms, press keys and drag elements. Inspect pages with text snapshots, screenshots, page text, JavaScript evaluation in main or isolated context, and framework state extraction. Capture and intercept network requests, capture console logs, record user interactions, dismiss cookie popups and wait for text, selectors or navigation.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs to browse or scrape sites that block ordinary headless browsers, or to run several logged-in profiles in parallel with saved cookie and localStorage state. Also suits scripted web interaction and page inspection tasks.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, typically started with npx, so Node.js and network access are needed. Camoufox is auto-installed (about 150MB). Optional settings file under the user config directory; proxy settings can be supplied through the PROXY_SERVER, PROXY_USER and PROXY_PASS environment variables. No authentication is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Camoufox Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Session Management
Sessions provide isolated browser contexts — each session has its own cookies, localStorage, and cache. Use sessions to run multiple authenticated profiles simultaneously.

Utility
Sessions
Sessions enable running multiple authenticated profiles in parallel. Each session is an isolated browser context with its own cookies and localStorage.
Usage Examples
Create a session with pre-loaded authentication:
create_sessionwithcontextPath: "github-cookies.json"— returns asessionIdnew_pagewithurl: "https://github.com"and thesessionId— opens GitHub already logged in
Run two accounts simultaneously:
create_sessionwithcontextPath: "account1.json"— session Acreate_sessionwithcontextPath: "account2.json"— session Bnew_pagein session A — logged in as account 1new_pagein session B — logged in as account 2
Save session state for later:
- Log in manually in a session
save_sessionwithoutputPath: "my-session.json"— exports cookies + localStorage- Next time,
create_sessionwithcontextPath: "my-session.json"— restored
Context File Format
Context files use Playwright's storageState format:
Registering Context Files in Settings
Add context file paths to settings.json to make them discoverable via list_context_files. Sessions are created lazily on demand — no memory is used until the agent calls create_session:
The agent can then call list_context_files to see what's available, and create_session with the desired contextPath to load it when needed.
Settings
Create ~/.config/camoufox-mcp/settings.json:
Proxy Examples
HTTP/HTTPS Proxy:
SOCKS5 Proxy:
With Authentication (using env vars):
geoip: trueauto-adjusts browser timezone/locale based on proxy IP location.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
