Overview

AI-generated overview

Free, no-auth remote MCP server giving assistants short-form video helpers: Reels/TikTok/Shorts safe zones, bitrate math, SRT checks and export settings.

What you can do
  • Look up safe zones and unsafe margins for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and Stories, scaled to any frame size
  • Check whether a text box or caption falls inside the safe zone and which UI element covers it
  • Calculate video file size from duration and bitrate, or the highest bitrate that fits a target size
  • Validate pasted SRT or WebVTT subtitles for overlaps, gaps, reading speed, line length and broken characters
  • Get recommended export settings (codec, container, resolution, fps, bitrate, colour, audio) for YouTube, Vimeo, Reels, TikTok or a ProRes master
When to use it
Useful when planning or checking vertical short-form video: placing captions and logos clear of app interfaces, sizing an export to a file limit, cleaning up subtitles, or picking upload settings for a platform.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no API key, sign-up or headers. Clients without remote MCP support can bridge it via mcp-remote, or it can be built and run locally over stdio with Node.js.
Before you install
All tools are read-only and stateless, and the server states it stores no data and makes no outbound requests. Safe-zone values are approximate and dated, so verify against current platform specs; results link back to the vendor's tool pages.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Rast Creator Tools in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.bewoai%2Frast-creator-tools/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Example prompts

  • What is the safe zone for a 1080x1920 TikTok video?
  • Is a caption box at y = 1550 px on a 1080x1920 frame covered by the Reels interface?
  • How big will a 3-minute 4K 30 fps YouTube export at 45 Mbps be?
  • What bitrate do I need to keep a 90-second 1080p video under 100 MB?
  • Check this SRT for overlaps, reading speed and broken characters: (paste subtitles)
  • What export settings should I use for an HDR YouTube upload?

Tools

get_safe_zone

Get vertical video safe zone

Returns the approximate areas of a vertical (9:16) video frame that the app interface covers on Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Stories: unsafe margins in pixels and percent, the safe rectangle for text, the position of the right-hand button column and short placement guidance. Values are measured on 1080x1920 and scaled to the given frame size.

Parameterswidthheightplatformrequired

check_text_position

Check text position against platform UI

Checks whether a rectangular text box (caption, title or logo) on a vertical video frame stays inside the safe zone of Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Stories. Reports which interface element it overlaps (top bar, bottom caption area, right button column, edge margins, optionally the Reels comment-reply sticker) and suggests the nearest position that clears them. Coordinates are pixels from the top-left corner of the frame.

Parametersxrequiredyrequiredwidthrequiredheightrequiredplatformrequiredcanvas_widthcanvas_heightinclude_comment_sticker

calculate_bitrate

Calculate video bitrate and file size

Calculates the file size of a video export from its duration and bitrate, or (when target_size_mb is given) the highest video bitrate that fits that size with a 2% safety margin. Without an explicit bitrate it uses the reference value for the platform, resolution and frame rate (YouTube and Vimeo recommendations, Apple ProRes target data rates, or Rast's delivery target for Instagram and TikTok, which publish none). Also returns size-limit warnings (Meta 4 GB, TikTok ads 500 MB / 516 kbps) and a two-pass ffmpeg command.

Parametersfpsplatformaudio_kbpsresolutiontarget_size_mbduration_secondsrequiredvideo_bitrate_mbps

validate_srt

Validate SRT or WebVTT subtitles

Checks pasted SRT or WebVTT subtitle text and lists problems per subtitle: overlapping or out-of-order timings, gaps shorter than the minimum frame gap, reading speed (characters per second), line length, line count, too short or too long durations, and broken characters from a wrong encoding (mojibake such as 'é' or '’', with the probable correct text). Optionally returns a corrected SRT. The text is only processed for this response.

Parametersfpspresetsrt_textrequiredmin_gap_framesinclude_fixed_srt

export_settings

Recommended video export settings

Returns recommended export settings for uploading a finished video to YouTube (SDR or HDR), Vimeo, Instagram Reels or TikTok, or for a ProRes archive master: container, codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, colour and audio, plus links to each platform's official spec page and a short step list that works in any editor.
