Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that lets an assistant design layered notification sounds and return an editor link to play, tweak and download them.

What you can do
  • Design sounds: build a notification sound from a layer design and get an editor link, with warnings for out-of-range or ignored values
  • Reuse sounds: turn a share link or its code back into a sound design to modify and rebuild
  • Browse the library: list built-in sounds by group or search them by name, and fetch a built-in sound's full design and editor link as a starting point
  • Learn the format: read a guide on layers, envelope, pitch, timing, noise, levels and effects with example designs
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to draft notification, alert or game sound effects and hand you a link to audition and download them, or to adapt an existing sound from a share link or the built-in library.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at notifysound.com/mcp, added as a custom connector or MCP server in the assistant. No account, API key or authentication is needed.
Before you install
The server is hosted and its code is not public, so sound designs and share links you submit are processed by a third party. Creating a sound stores it on the service and returns a link; review the link before sharing it.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Notify Sound in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.botmonster%2Fnotify-sound/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Notify Sound MCP server

[Notify Sound]

Notify Sound is a hosted MCP server for notification sounds. The assistant designs a sound from layers of tones and noise, and the server returns an editor link. The link opens the sound in the Notify Sound editor, where the user plays, tweaks and downloads it. A library of built-in sounds serves as starting points.

  • Endpoint: https://notifysound.com/mcp
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Authentication: none. No account and no API key.
  • Website: https://notifysound.com
  • Official MCP Registry: io.github.botmonster/notify-sound

This repository holds the setup only. The server runs at notifysound.com, and its code is not public.

Setup

Claude

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Press Add custom connector.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{  "mcpServers": {    "notify-sound": {      "url": "https://notifysound.com/mcp"    }  }}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "notify-sound": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://notifysound.com/mcp"    }  }}

Any other assistant that connects to a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP takes the same URL: https://notifysound.com/mcp.

Tools

  • create_sound (Create a sound): Build a notification sound from your own layer design and get an editor link for it. The link opens the sound in the editor, where the user plays, tweaks and downloads it. Returns the link, the stored sound and warnings for any value that was out of range, rounded or ignored. Read get_sound_guide first.
  • read_sound (Read a share link): Turn a share link (or the code after #s=) back into the sound design, to change it and call create_sound again.
  • list_library_sounds (List built-in sounds): List the built-in sounds by group, or search them by name. Without arguments it lists every group with its sound names. Use a close built-in sound as a starting point.
  • get_library_sound (Get a built-in sound): Get the full design of a built-in sound and its editor link, to use as a starting point for create_sound.
  • get_sound_guide (Sound design guide): How sounds are built: layers, envelope, pitch, timing, noise, levels and effects, with example designs. Read it once before designing.

Example prompts

  • "Make a soft two-note chime for a new message."
  • "Start from Tri-Tone and make it brighter."
  • "Design a coin pickup sound for my game."
