Overview

AI-generated overview

Read-only MCP access to FindAIforWork, a curated directory of AI software, letting an assistant search, inspect and compare tool listings.

What you can do
  • Search published AI tool listings by keyword, category slug or pricing model, with sorting and a result limit
  • Fetch one full listing by slug, including its Markdown description, secondary categories and related tools
  • List all active categories with slug, description and listing counts
  • Compare two to five tools side by side, with unknown slugs reported as missing
  • Return canonical page URLs and official product websites so listings can be cited
When to use it
Useful when someone asks which AI tools exist for a kind of work, wants options filtered by price model or category, or needs a side-by-side comparison before choosing a product. It is a discovery aid for AI software, not a general software catalog.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint over Streamable HTTP; no account, API key or environment variable is needed. Clients that only support stdio need a bridge such as mcp-remote. Network access to the service is required, and requests are rate limited per IP address.
Before you install
The server is read-only and writes nothing, but results are a third-party curated catalog: listings marked featured are paid placements, and the directory states it makes no promises about rankings, traffic or sales. Treat descriptions as vendor-supplied marketing content and verify pricing on the official site before relying on it.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open FindAIforWork Directory in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.brand-lc%2Ffindaiforwork/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

FindAIforWork — a curated directory of AI tools for productive work

findaiforwork.com · Find AI tools built for better work.

FindAIforWork is an independent directory of AI software for productive work. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, organized by the job it helps you do, and written to explain what the product actually does rather than what it claims. The directory is intentionally focused on useful AI software for research, writing, analysis, design, and operations — not a general software catalog.

Curated software for research, writing, analysis, design, and operations.

What you can do

  • Browse reviewed AI tools — findaiforwork.com/tools
  • Filter by workflow or price model — narrow the catalog by category, pricing model, or newest approval.
  • Compare before you commit — every detail page links to the product's official website and pricing, and includes related tools plus a dedicated alternatives page.
  • Submit your own product — a three-step wizard with AI autofill drafts the listing from your website, and you review every field before publishing.

Categories

Eleven focused categories, each organized around a kind of work:

  1. AI Assistants & Search — answer engines, research copilots, and general-purpose assistants
  2. Writing & Content — drafting, editing, and localization without losing voice
  3. Design & Image — image generation, art direction, and visual production
  4. Video & Animation — generating, editing, localizing, and animating video
  5. Audio & Voice — voice, music, transcription, and sound production
  6. Developer Tools — AI-native editors, agents, and build helpers
  7. Productivity & Meetings — notes, decks, meeting memory, and focused work
  8. Research & Data — evidence, scientific research, notebooks, and analysis
  9. Marketing & Sales — campaigns, enrichment, outbound, and growth operations
  10. Automation & Agents — workflow orchestration and agents that act across your stack
  11. Customer Support — support agents, helpdesks, and resolution systems

For AI tool makers

Submit a product at findaiforwork.com/submit. There are three one-time listing plans and no subscriptions:

PlanPriceWhat you get
Free$0A dofollow listing on the detail page in exchange for a verified FindAIforWork backlink on your product homepage. Published after human review.
Basic$9.90 one-timeA dofollow listing without a homepage backlink. Published once payment is confirmed.
Pro$29.90 one-timeEverything in Basic, plus a Featured badge and section, a featured homepage placement with first-screen priority for 30 days, and a rotating Sponsored sidebar slot while the plan is active.
  • Each plan is a one-time payment for one product. There are no renewals or recurring charges.
  • Free listings require a visible backlink on the product homepage and pass human review.
  • Paid listings publish automatically once the payment provider confirms the payment.
  • Official website links from listings are dofollow. Maker social links are nofollow, and links inside descriptions are not allowed.
  • "Autofill with AI" reads the product's homepage and pricing page and drafts the listing; the maker reviews and edits every field.
  • FindAIforWork makes no promises about domain rating, indexing, rankings, traffic, or sales.

How listings are reviewed

  • Listings are reviewed by a person before publication.
  • AI-assisted descriptions use only the product's official website text. The directory does not invent facts, features, or prices.
  • Paid placement — Featured and Sponsored — is kept separate from natural discovery. Featured means paid promotion, and it never changes natural rankings.
  • Owners can edit their listing, respond to review feedback, hide it, or request a refund from the dashboard.

Machine-readable and AI-friendly

The site publishes agent guides and Markdown versions of its public pages:

The reviewed catalog is also available to AI assistants over the Model Context Protocol. The server is public and read-only: no account, no API key, and nothing is written.

Tools

ToolWhat it doesInputs
search_toolsSearch published listings by text, category or pricing modelquery?, category?, pricing? (FREE, FREEMIUM, PAID, OPEN_SOURCE, CONTACT_SALES), sort? (latest, trending, az), limit? (1-25, default 10)
get_toolOne full public listing: Markdown description, secondary categories and five related toolsslug
list_categoriesEvery active category with its slug, description and listing countnone
compare_toolsTwo to five listings side by side; unknown slugs come back in missingslugs (2-5)

Every result includes the canonical page URL and the product's official website, so an assistant can cite both. query is a plain substring match on name, tagline, description and maker, so short keywords work best. A listing with an active paid Pro plan carries featured: true; the flag never changes the order of results.

Connect a client

Claude Code:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http findaiforwork https://findaiforwork.com/mcp

Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json):

json
{ "mcpServers": { "findaiforwork": { "url": "https://findaiforwork.com/mcp" } } }

VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json):

json
{ "servers": { "findaiforwork": { "type": "http", "url": "https://findaiforwork.com/mcp" } } }

Any other client that supports remote MCP servers: add https://findaiforwork.com/mcp as a custom (remote) server. Clients that only speak stdio can use a bridge such as npx -y mcp-remote https://findaiforwork.com/mcp.

Example prompts

  • "Which AI tools handle meeting notes? Show only free or freemium ones."
  • "List the categories, then show me what is in the customer support one."
  • "Compare the first two results side by side."

Limits and privacy

search_tools returns at most 25 results per call. The server itself keeps no sessions and never reads cookies. Requests are rate limited per IP address, in memory.
