Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server giving assistants tide times, currents, marine forecasts, warnings and water temperature for coastal spots in 26 countries.

What you can do
  • Find nearest tide and current stations to a point, with distance and time zone
  • Get high and low tides with heights, and slack water with max flood and ebb times and speeds
  • Plan a paddle in one call: tides, currents, 24-hour wind, gusts and waves, warnings, water temperature, sunrise and sunset
  • List the lowest daylight low tides over coming days for clamming, foraging and tide pools
  • Read hourly marine forecasts (wind, gusts, rain, fog, thunder, waves) and marine warnings in effect
  • Check water temperature from a nearby buoy or satellite, and look up Coast Map Pass details, start a purchase and check payment status
When to use it
Useful when planning paddling, fishing, clamming or small-boat trips and you want tide, current and marine weather answers inside the conversation instead of checking several sites. Also handy for finding the nearest tide station to a coordinate.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local install or account needed. An optional Authorization header with a Bearer Coast Map Pass key unlocks tide and current ranges beyond 7 days once the pass is on sale. Network access to the provider's endpoint is required.
Before you install
The Authorization header carries a secret pass key; keep it private. The purchase tools return Stripe checkout links and the user pays in their browser, so real money (CA$5 monthly or CA$55 yearly) can be spent. Forecasts and warnings are third-party data and should not replace official marine safety information.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Cosmic's Coast Map in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.brendoncampbell%2Fcoast-map/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

find_stations

Tide and current stations near a point

Nearest tide stations (high/low times) and current stations (slack water, max flood/ebb) to a point, with distance and time zone. Coverage: Canada, the US, Norway, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia (Queensland) and modelled tides elsewhere.

Parameterslatrequiredlngrequiredkindlimit

plan_paddle

Everything for one launch in one call

One call that answers "what will the water be like at this spot?": the nearest tide station with 2 days of highs and lows, currents nearby, the next 24 h of wind, gusts and waves with the maxima, warnings in effect, water temperature and sunrise/sunset, with the important heads_up lines listed first.

Parameterslatrequiredlngrequiredfrom

tide_times

High and low tide times

High and low tides with heights, in the station's local time. Up to 7 days ahead free; longer ranges (up to 90 days) need the user's Coast Map Pass key.

Parameterslatlngdaysfromstation

currents

Tidal current times (slack water, max flood and ebb)

Slack water and maximum flood/ebb times and speeds at a current station, in local time. Up to 7 days free; longer with a Coast Map Pass key.

Parameterslatlngdaysfromstation

best_low_tides

Best daylight low tides for foraging and tide pools

The lowest daylight low tides over the next days (default 30, up to 90 with a pass key), marking the good ones for clamming, foraging and tide pools.

Parameterslatlngdaysstation

marine_forecast

Wind, waves and weather on the water (48 h)

Hourly wind and gusts (knots), direction, temperature, rain, fog and thunder risk for the next 48 hours, plus wave height and period, from Environment Canada (HRDPS/GDWPS), the US National Weather Service or MET Norway.

coast_map_pass

Coast Map Pass: what it adds and how to get it

What the Coast Map Pass adds over the free map (offline regions for trips with no signal; longer tide and current ranges for assistants), its prices (CA$5 a month or CA$55 a year), whether it is on sale yet, and the purchase or support links. Covers offline use, longer tide ranges and upgrading.

Takes no parameters.

start_pass_purchase

Start buying the Coast Map Pass in this conversation

Begin a Coast Map Pass purchase without leaving the conversation: returns checkout links (CA$5 a month or CA$55 a year, Stripe, no account) tagged with a purchase reference, or says the pass is not on sale yet. The user pays in their browser; the reference identifies that payment afterwards.

Takes no parameters.

pass_status

Collect the pass key after the user has paid

Checks whether the payment for a purchase reference has completed. Returns pending (with a retry interval) or paid with the pass key, which is sent as "Authorization: Bearer <key>" from then on, plus a link that activates the pass in the user's own map.

water_temperature

Sea surface temperature

Water temperature from the nearest buoy within 40 km, otherwise satellite sea surface temperature.
