Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant check whether a drug has a marketed generic and when its Orange Book protections lapse.

What you can do
Generic Timeline is a remote MCP server that answers questions about generic drug availability and patent or exclusivity timing. According to its registry description, it reports whether a drug has a marketed generic today and when its Orange Book protections lapse. No individual tools are listed in the available manifest.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to reason about generic drug status or the timing of Orange Book protection expiry, for example in pharmaceutical, regulatory, or market research questions.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at the provider's site; no packages, environment variables, or headers are declared. The manifest declares no authentication, though the provider may still require an account or key in practice.
Before you install
The manifest declares no authentication, so any credentials the provider asks for at connection time are not documented here. Verify the accuracy of drug status and protection dates against an authoritative source before relying on them.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Generic Timeline in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.builtforai%2Fgeneric-timeline/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

For a US prescription drug, report whether a real MARKETED generic exists today — judged on CMS NADAC price dispersion across NDCs of one drug identity, not on FDA approval counts, because an approved generic that nobody sells does not lower anyone's price. Returns the price range for the identical pill when a generic is marketed, and when one is not, the earliest expiry among listed FDA Orange Book patents and exclusivities. NEVER presents a patent expiry as a launch date. Pediatric exclusivity (21 U.S.C. 355a) is honoured, which moves some dates six months later than naive de-duplication produces.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
