Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant convert RAR archives to ZIP, 7Z or TAR via the RAR.now service and track the job.

What you can do
  • Look up available converter slugs in the live RAR.now catalog
  • Submit a publicly accessible RAR archive URL for conversion with a chosen converter, optionally waiting for the result
  • Check a conversion job's status and get a temporary download URL when it completes
  • Read the caller's API credits, usage and rate limit
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to turn a RAR archive into a more widely supported format such as ZIP, 7Z or TAR without local extraction tools, and the archive is reachable at a public URL.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at rar.now over streamable HTTP, plus a RAR.now API key sent in the X-API-Key header. The archive to convert must be at a publicly accessible URL; private-network URLs and URLs with embedded credentials are rejected.
Before you install
The API key in the X-API-Key header is a secret and should be kept out of logs and shared transcripts. Conversions consume API credits, so check usage and rate limits. The archive URL is sent to a third-party service, and the result is only a temporary download link.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open RAR.now MCP Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect X-API-Key credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.chrisyau83%2Frar-now/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
