Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant convert XLSX spreadsheets to and from XLS, CSV, PDF, JPG, HTML and ODS via the XLSX.now service.

What you can do
  • List available converters and their slugs (for example xlsx-to-csv, xlsx-to-pdf, csv-to-xlsx)
  • Submit a publicly accessible spreadsheet URL to a chosen converter, optionally waiting for the result
  • Check a conversion job's status and get a temporary download URL when it completes
  • Read the caller's API credits, usage and rate limits
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to turn a spreadsheet into another format (PDF, CSV, JPG, HTML, ODS, XLS) or convert a CSV back to XLSX, without running conversion software locally. It suits one-off file conversions driven from a chat or agent workflow.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at xlsx.now over streamable HTTP; no local package or runtime. Requires an XLSX.now API key sent in the X-API-Key header. The source spreadsheet must be reachable at a public URL; private-network URLs and URLs with embedded credentials are rejected.
Before you install
The API key is a secret sent in the X-API-Key header, and usage is metered against API credits, so conversions may consume paid quota. Spreadsheet URLs are handed to a third-party service, so avoid files containing sensitive data. Download URLs returned for completed jobs are temporary.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open XLSX.now MCP Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect X-API-Key credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.chrisyau83%2Fxlsx-now/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
