US public data for AI agents: recalls, gov contracts, IRS ZIP income, TX leads, WHOIS, tech stack
Overview
Remote MCP server giving assistants live lookups of official US public datasets: recalls, federal contracts, IRS ZIP income, Texas business permits, WHOIS and…
- What you can do
- Search recent CPSC, FDA and USDA FSIS recalls by brand, product, UPC or keyword, and look up NHTSA vehicle recalls by make, model and year
- Find top federal contract recipients by NAICS code and state from USAspending.gov
- Pull IRS Statistics of Income figures for up to 50 ZIP codes and newly issued Texas sales-tax permits by county, city, ZIP or NAICS
- Inspect domains for registrar, age, expiry, DNS, email provider, SPF/DMARC and SSL expiry, and detect CMS, ecommerce, analytics, pixels, payments and CDN for up to 25 sites
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs cited, real figures from US government and public sources instead of estimates — for example recall checks, contract-award research, ZIP-level income comparisons, local new-business leads, or quick domain and website profiling.
- Requirements
- A remote streamable-HTTP endpoint hosted on Apify; no local install needed. Requires an Apify API token sent as an Authorization bearer header (a free token is available at apify.com). Some clients need a local bridge such as npx mcp-remote. Network access to the endpoint is required.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Public Data MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Connect Authorization token credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.clearline-labs%2Fpublic-data-mcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

85% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
