MCP server for Google Nano Banana (Gemini) image generation
Overview
A local MCP server that lets an AI assistant generate, edit and combine images through Google Gemini Nano Banana models.
- What you can do
- Generate images from text prompts at chosen resolution, aspect ratio and output format, saved to a path or returned inline as base64. Edit existing images or combine up to 14 reference images from disk into one composite. Produce a complete favicon package, including icon files, a web manifest and an HTML snippet. Choose between Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Flash models, with automatic fallback to Flash on rate limits.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to create or modify images while you work, such as mockups, wallpapers, social assets or favicons, without leaving the chat. Best suited to users who already have a paid Google AI Studio account and accept per-image costs.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, typically via npx from the npm package mcp-nano-banana, so Node.js is needed. Requires a Gemini API key supplied in the GEMINI_API_KEY environment variable and a Google Cloud project with billing enabled on a paid tier. Network access to the Google Gemini API is required.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Mcp Nano Banana in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
