MCP server for Evolution API — WhatsApp messaging, instances, contacts
Overview
Local MCP server that connects an assistant to a self-hosted Evolution API instance to send WhatsApp messages and manage instances, contacts and groups.
- What you can do
- Send WhatsApp text, image, document and poll messages, and mark messages as read or delete them for me or for everyone. List, create, restart, logout or delete WhatsApp instances, get pairing QR codes and check connection state. Read contacts, chat history and messages, and check whether a phone number is registered on WhatsApp. Create groups, read group metadata, fetch invite codes, leave groups and add, remove, promote or demote participants. Update instance profile details, set presence and archive or unarchive chats.
- When to use it
- Useful when you run your own Evolution API instance and want an assistant to draft and send WhatsApp messages, look up chats and contacts, or administer WhatsApp instances and groups from a chat session.
- Requirements
- Runs locally via npx (Node.js). Needs a reachable self-hosted Evolution API instance, set through the EVOLUTION_API_URL environment variable, and an API key in EVOLUTION_API_KEY. The README recommends deploying the instance with Docker for testing.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Mcp Evolution Api in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
