MCP server exposing MySQL database functionalities as tools
Overview
A local MCP server that gives an AI assistant tools to connect to MySQL and run queries, manage databases, tables, indexes and users.
- What you can do
- Connect, disconnect, check connection status and commit or roll back transactions against a MySQL server. Run raw SQL queries and read results. List, create, drop and check databases and tables, and inspect schemas. Show, create and drop columns and indexes. Create and drop MySQL users, grant and revoke privileges, and show privileges. Read server status and database or table metadata as resources.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant should work directly with a MySQL instance: exploring schemas, running ad-hoc queries, or setting up databases, tables and users during development or administration.
- Requirements
- Runs locally as a Python package (Python 3.11+). Needs a reachable MySQL server and credentials, supplied either through the connect tool or the MYSQL_HOST, MYSQL_PORT, MYSQL_USER, MYSQL_PASSWORD and MYSQL_DATABASE environment variables. Desktop-only; no web execution.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Mcp Mysql Connector in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Overview
mcp-mysql-connector is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides MySQL database operations as tools for LLM agents. It allows AI assistants to interact with MySQL databases through a standardized protocol, enabling:
- Database and table management
- Query execution
- User authentication and privilege management
- Schema introspection
- Transaction control

50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
