Query any database in plain English or SQL through a guardrailed, read-only data layer.
The publisher's own server: AI for Database
Overview
Query databases in plain English or SQL through a guardrailed, read-only data layer.
- What you can do
- This server connects an AI assistant to the AI for Database service, letting it run queries against databases using either natural-language questions or SQL. Access goes through a guardrailed, read-only data layer, so the assistant can retrieve and inspect data without modifying it. Tool details are not listed in the manifest, so the exact command set is not documented here.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to answer questions from a database without writing SQL yourself, or to run read-only SQL against connected data sources. It fits analysis and reporting workflows where data must not be changed.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process over stdio, installed from the npm package aifordatabase-mcp (Node.js required). Requires an API key in the environment variable AFD_API_KEY (starts with afd_), obtainable from the provider's signup page. The optional AFD_API_BASE variable overrides the default API base URL. Network access to the provider's API is needed.
Installation
In SourceWeft

- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
