Claude builds FL Studio and Ableton Live sessions: notes, presets, mixer, automation, measured mixes

VerifiedSTDIODesktop onlyDeveloper ToolsMedia & Design

Overview

AI-generated overview

Bridges Claude or ChatGPT into Ableton Live 12 so the assistant builds tracks, clips, notes, devices and mixes inside a real project.

What you can do
  • Build session content: create tracks, MIDI clips and notes, and control session and transport state
  • Edit devices and parameters, including plugin hosting with full state recall
  • Search and load browser items such as presets and samples
  • Read, write and analyse Serum 1 presets
  • Place arrangements on the timeline and set locators via the Max for Live arranger
  • Check a mix against measured artist targets and place whole arrangements (Pro tier)
When to use it
Useful for music producers on macOS who want an assistant to turn a text prompt into editable Ableton Live material, or to inspect and adjust an existing project's tracks, devices and mix.
Requirements
Local macOS 13+ on Apple silicon with Ableton Live 12 (Suite, or Standard plus Max for Live for the plugin host and arranger devices); the remote script must be installed and selected as a control surface, and the server binary registered with the AI client. A Claude or ChatGPT subscription is needed for the AI client. Windows is not yet supported.
Before you install
The assistant writes into your Live project: it creates and changes tracks, clips, notes, devices and parameters, so work on a copy or with undo in mind. The Pro tier is a paid subscription with a trial, and the free report card and setup pages are external services. The bridge opens local TCP ports 9877 and 9878.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Vibemind in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

VibeMind for Ableton — the free bridge

Plug Claude (Desktop or Code) or ChatGPT (via Codex CLI) into Ableton Live 12. Ask for "a tech house loop at 126: kick, clap, hats and a bassline, 8 bars" and it builds it in your project: real tracks, real MIDI clips, your plugins and samples. Nothing is rendered by a model; every note is editable.

Download the notarized macOS installer (free, no licence, no account): https://rollaaudio.com/vibemind — setup guide: https://rollaaudio.com/vibemind/setup

What is in the free bridge

  • Live Remote Script (remote-script/): the bridge. Owns TCP 9877 (control) and 9878 (browser).
  • Max for Live devices (m4l/): VibeMind_PluginHost x4 (host Serum 2, Vital, Diva… with every parameter and full state recall) and VibeMind_Arranger (timeline placement, locators), plus their JS handlers.
  • vibemind-mcp server: one notarized binary shipped in the installer; registers itself with Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Codex CLI. 44 tools: session and transport, tracks, clips and notes, devices and parameters, browser search and load, Serum 1 preset read/write/analyse, plugin hosting.

This repository holds the Remote Script and the Max for Live devices (MIT, see NOTICE for the ableton-mcp lineage), the customer setup guide and the changelog. The server binary ships in the installer.

VibeMind Pro

The knowledge layer on top of the bridge: measured artist packs (John Summit, deadmau5, Technimatic today, one new artist every week), vibemind_place_spec (a whole arrangement into Live), vibemind_check_mix (your bounce against the artist's targets) and the pack downloader. $12/month or $79/year, 14-day trial inside the app. https://rollaaudio.com/vibemind#pro

Free Report Card: how close is your mix to deadmau5? https://rollaaudio.com/vibemind/mixcheck

Requirements

macOS 13+ on Apple silicon, Ableton Live 12 (Suite, or Standard + Max for Live for PluginHost and Arranger; the Remote-Script tools work without M4L), a Claude or ChatGPT subscription for the AI client. Windows: in progress.

Manual install (without the installer)

  1. Copy remote-script/ to ~/Music/Ableton/User Library/Remote Scripts/VibeMind/.
  2. Copy m4l/devices/*.amxd and m4l/handlers/*.js to ~/Music/Ableton/User Library/VibeMind/.
  3. Live > Settings > Link, Tempo & MIDI > Control Surface: VibeMind.
  4. Install the server from the installer at https://rollaaudio.com/vibemind (it registers itself with your AI client). Full guide: docs/SETUP.md.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
