Email, EU VAT, IBAN, and domain validation plus evidence-backed U.S. CPSC recall screening.

Overview

AI-generated overview

Validates emails, EU VAT numbers, IBANs, and domains, and screens products against U.S. CPSC recall data via the LookTwice API.

What you can do
Wraps the LookTwice API in tools for email syntax and MX/disposable/role checks, live EU VIES VAT validation, IBAN structure and MOD-97 checksum checks, and domain DNS, MX, TLS, and RDAP lookups. It also offers evidence-backed candidate matching against U.S. CPSC recalls and Product Safety Warnings, plus a free credit-balance tool. Results carry timestamps and official sources, and the server states it makes no mailbox, account, or safety claims.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to check contact or business identifiers such as emails, VAT numbers, IBANs, or domains, or to screen a product against CPSC recall data. It suits workflows that want cited validation evidence rather than a single-purpose validator.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio, typically via npx looktwice-mcp, so Node.js and network access are needed. A LookTwice account and an API key supplied in the LOOKTWICE_API_KEY environment variable are required; LOOKTWICE_BASE_URL can override the default API endpoint. Desktop MCP clients only.
Before you install
The API key is a secret passed in the LOOKTWICE_API_KEY environment variable. Tools consume paid API units (email 2, VAT 1, IBAN 1, CPSC 3; domain and balance free), so usage can cost money after the free monthly allowance. Validation inputs are sent to the LookTwice API, and results are screening signals, not proof that a mailbox, account, or product is safe or compliant.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Looktwice Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Compared with a single-purpose MCP

Most VAT or email MCP servers wrap one upstream. This server keeps the same evidence rules across email, VIES, IBAN, domain, and CPSC: timestamps, official sources, and no mailbox / account / safety claims.

Honest boundaries

  • email_check never claims a mailbox exists (mailbox_status: not_checked).
  • iban_check never claims an account exists or belongs to a person.
  • cpsc_recall_match returns screening candidates with official sources, not safety, legality, or compliance decisions.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
