Nextcloud MCP server — 349 tools: files, calendar, contacts, mail, Talk, Deck, photos, maps, notes

Overview

AI-generated overview

Nextcloud MCP server exposing 349 tools so an assistant can work with your instance's files, calendar, contacts, mail, Talk, Deck, notes and more.

What you can do
  • List, read, write, move, copy, delete and search files and folders, plus archives, tags and file metadata
  • Analyze images stored in Nextcloud with vision, including OCR and multi-image comparison
  • Search across Nextcloud apps through Unified Search and list available search providers
  • Manage apps, users, groups, system status and setup checks, several of which need admin rights
  • Work with optional apps such as calendar, tasks, contacts, mail, Talk, Deck, notes, photos and maps
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to operate directly on a self-hosted Nextcloud instance: organizing and searching files, tagging, reading documents, or handling calendar, contacts and mail from the same server.
Requirements
Node.js 26+ for the npx package, or Docker for the container; also available as a remote HTTP endpoint. Needs NEXTCLOUD_URL, NEXTCLOUD_USER and NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD (a Nextcloud app password). Optional OAuth settings for remote clients. Some tools require admin privileges.
Before you install
The app password grants broad access to your Nextcloud account, and admin-level tools can install or remove apps, disable users and change group membership. File tools write, move and delete data, and bulk operations run several changes at once. Image analysis sends file content to the MCP client's model provider.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open AIquila — Nextcloud MCP Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

AIquila MCP Server

MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives any MCP client full access to your Nextcloud instance — files, calendar, tasks, contacts, mail, talk, maps, bookmarks, notes, polls, forms, and more. 349 tools across 44 categories.

Quick Start

Stdio transport (local MCP clients)

Add to your MCP client configuration. Example for Claude Desktop (~/.config/claude/claude_desktop_config.json); Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code use the same server definition in their own config files:

json
{	"mcpServers": {		"aiquila": {			"command": "npx",			"args": ["-y", "aiquila-mcp"],			"env": {				"NEXTCLOUD_URL": "https://your-nextcloud.example.com",				"NEXTCLOUD_USER": "your-username",				"NEXTCLOUD_PASSWORD": "your-app-password"			}		}	}}

Generate an App Password in Nextcloud: Settings → Security → Devices & sessions.

HTTP transport (Docker, remote MCP clients)

See the Docker setup guide for running AIquila as an HTTP server with OAuth for remote MCP clients such as Claude.ai.

Which AI model does this use?

None. This server has no model of its own and no provider setting — it exposes your Nextcloud to whatever MCP client you point at it, and that client brings its own model. Provider choice (Claude, Hetzner Inference, Mistral, a local model, DeepSeek) belongs to the AIquila Nextcloud app, which is a separate component.
