Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant create and manage short links and styled QR codes, change their destinations, and read click and scan statistics.

What it does
A hosted MCP server for esyURL that shortens URLs and renders styled QR codes. Tools cover creating, listing, updating, pausing and deleting short links, testing redirect rules, and reading visit stats split into QR scans, direct clicks and bots. Links can be organised into groups, and custom domains can be viewed, set or removed. QR codes can be rendered as PNGs with custom shapes, colours and logos.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to produce shareable short links or printable QR codes and keep control of where they point afterwards, including device or country routing. Also fits tracking scan and click counts, or managing links in groups and on a custom domain.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; nothing to install locally. It needs an Authorization header with a Bearer esy_ API key. The README says an agent can create its own anonymous account and obtain a key without a human, and that a human can later claim the account by email to raise the link limit.
Before you install
The Authorization header carries a secret API key. Links can be updated, paused or deleted, and custom domains added or removed, which changes live destinations. Setting a custom domain is paid once per domain in USDC via x402, and the tool returns payment requirements first. The server is hosted and not open source, so link and visit data goes to a third party.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open esyURL in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "mcp": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://esyurl.fyi/mcp"
    }
  }
}

README

esyURL MCP server

A hosted MCP server that lets AI agents create and manage short links and QR codes with esyURL: shorten URLs, render styled QR codes, change where a printed or shared link points, route visitors by device or country, and read click and scan stats. The agent can sign itself up; no human account is needed.

  • Endpoint: https://esyurl.fyi/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless)
  • Auth: Authorization: Bearer esy_...

There is nothing to install or run: this repository describes the hosted server. The server itself is not open source.

Get an API key

An agent without a key can create its own account and get one, following esyurl.fyi/auth.md:

sh
BASE=https://esyurl.fyiREG=$(curl -s $BASE/agent/identity -H 'content-type: application/json' -d '{"type":"anonymous"}')KEY=$(curl -s $BASE/oauth2/token \  --data-urlencode grant_type=urn:ietf:params:oauth:grant-type:jwt-bearer \  --data-urlencode assertion=$(echo "$REG" | jq -r .identity_assertion) | jq -r .access_token)echo $KEY

Self-signed-up accounts get 100 links, 1000 once a human claims the account by email.

Connect

Claude Code:

sh
claude mcp add --transport http esyurl https://esyurl.fyi/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer esy_..."

Cursor, VS Code and other clients (.mcp.json style):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "esyurl": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://esyurl.fyi/mcp",      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer esy_..." }    }  }}
