Local file tools for agents: documents, PDFs, images, QR codes. Nothing is uploaded.
Overview
Local file tools for AI agents: read and convert documents, PDFs and images, edit PDFs, remove image backgrounds, and generate QR codes.
- What you can do
- Provides six tools for local file work: doc_read extracts text and tables from DOCX, PDF, HWP, HWPX, EML, JTD and XDW files; doc_convert converts documents to PDF, PDFs back to Word, Excel or HWP, PDF pages to images, and sheets to CSV or JSON; pdf_edit merges, extracts, deletes, rotates, reorders, splits, compresses, protects, unlocks and replaces text; pdf_info reports page count, page sizes, encryption and metadata; image_edit resizes, compresses, converts, strips EXIF and GPS, and cuts out backgrounds; qr_make turns a link or text into a PNG or SVG.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs to work with local documents, PDFs or images without uploading them, especially for Korean and Japanese formats such as HWP, HWPX, JTD and XDW, or for PDF editing and image cleanup tasks.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, installed via npx from the npm package ezpzfile-mcp. Requires Node 22.13 or newer. Native modules (sharp, @napi-rs/canvas) are built for the platform on install. Background removal downloads a model and runtime on first use and caches them under ~/.cache/ezpzfile-mcp. No accounts, API keys or environment variables are declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Ezpzfile in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
ezpzfile-mcp
File tools for AI agents. Read and convert documents (DOCX, PDF, HWP, HWPX, EML, and Japanese JTD and XDW), turn PDFs back into Word, Excel or HWP, edit PDFs, resize and clean images, cut out backgrounds, make QR codes. Everything runs on your machine and no file is ever uploaded.

What it saves
The same four files were placed in two sessions and the same task sentence was handed to the same model. One side could only use this server. The other had no dedicated tools and was free to use the shell and Node.
That is 53% less cost and 93% less time. Tokens and cost are not estimates; they are the per-message figures the sessions recorded, added up. Measured 2026-09-12.
The bare session never started two of the tasks. It spent the clock hunting for and installing libraries for the two Korean documents. Read the gap as a floor, not a ceiling: had it been made to finish all 4, the difference would be wider.
The tools
Six of them, not twenty five. Tool definitions sit in the model's context for every
conversation, so related jobs share one tool and an argument picks between them.
mcp/README.md has the full list and every argument.
Layout
sharp and @napi-rs/canvas are native, so they are built for your platform on
install. Background removal downloads a 4.4MB model and a 14MB runtime the first
time you ask for a cut-out, then caches them under ~/.cache/ezpzfile-mcp. That is
the only thing here that touches the network, and it uploads nothing.

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
