Google Docs Mcp Server

Lets an assistant read, search, create, and edit Google Docs, including content in nested tabs, through a service account.

What you can do

Provides tools to list tabs, read a document or all tabs as markdown with heading levels, get document metadata, create documents, append or insert text, find and replace within a tab or whole document, run full batchUpdate operations for formatting, tables, images, and styles, and search Drive for documents by name. Tab-targeting tools accept a tab ID or case-insensitive tab title, and batch updates inject the tab ID automatically.

When to use it

Useful when an assistant needs to work with Google Docs content in a Workspace organization, especially documents that use tabs or nested tabs, and when you want markdown extraction or programmatic editing rather than manual copying.

Requirements

Runs locally as a Python package (Python 3.11+), installed with pip or run with uvx. Requires a Google Cloud service account with domain-wide delegation, the Google Docs and Drive APIs enabled, a service account JSON key file path in SERVICE_ACCOUNT_PATH, and the impersonated Workspace user email in SUBJECT_EMAIL. Desktop only.
