Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server giving assistants a searchable 3D printing filament and material science knowledge base with 8 lookup, comparison and troubleshooting tools.

What you can do
  • Search and look up filaments by name, material, manufacturer or color, and get full specs for a specific filament
  • Browse manufacturers and material types with filament counts
  • Read authoritative material profiles and compare two to three materials side by side
  • Get ranked material recommendations for stated requirements and diagnose print problems with material-specific fixes
When to use it
Useful when working with 3D printing: choosing a filament or material for a job, comparing materials, or troubleshooting print defects and needing material-specific guidance.
Requirements
Runs as a local process via npx (Node.js required). Data is embedded, so no API keys, accounts or network calls at runtime. Desktop-only; configured in a desktop client such as Claude Desktop.
Before you install
Read-only knowledge and lookup tools; no credentials, payments or write actions are described. Filament data comes from SpoolmanDB and material knowledge is hand-curated, so specs and recommendations should be verified against manufacturer data before relying on them.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open 3dprint Oracle in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
